Set my quit date for today, first 7 or 8 hours were fine, just this last hour has been ridiculous. Trying to go cold turkey but got some gum in case I really couldn't handle it. So far managed to only have half a piece. Can't concentrate on a thing now though, my hands feel funny; I feel completely imbecilic, trying to read simple things takes a lot of effort. Any advice how long these periods might last?

Off the cigarettes 2 weeks today (a few sneaky cigarettes when I legless last Saturday,  sshhh don't tell anyone ;) )

Using an Electronic cigarette and I can't praise them enough. Great job.

Haven't had a great nights sleep since going off the F***ing things though, don't know if that's normal or not.

Any who, let's hope I can stay off the things for good.

Well done! The first 2 weeks are the most difficult.

      Keep it up! ;)

It's just over 5 months for me now and the cravings have all but gone.

Cheers pal and well done to you too.

Hope I can keep at it. The only time I want a smoke is when I'm having a beer or 20.

Have absolutely no desire for one any other time.

Well done HtH and Higgy, stay strong lads and you will be better for not smoking. It is 21 years since I packed in the ciggies and it is the best thing I did after smoking for about 41 years from the age of 12 or 13.

Don't get complacent Tim, the cravings are still there mate and to deny it means they can re-appear when you're off guard and get a hold on you, it is as addictive as any recognised drug and any recovering heroin addict would tell you that to deny addiction weakens your resolve.
But well done lads and keep you're guard up.

Thanks Billy and Stuey for your kind words.

I'll make a point not to be complacent, Stuey.  ;)
