16 Year old dies in training

SADDLERS GRIEF AT TRAINING GROUND TRAGEDY

WALSALL Football Club are devastated following the loss of one of our young apprentice players, Anton Reid, yesterday.

The 16 year-old first-year youth team player collapsed and died during a training session on Monday morning at the University of Aston Training Ground. Players and staff have been left heartbroken by this terrible tragedy.

As a mark of respect, tonight's Pontin's Holidays League fixture versus Wolverhampton Wanderers has been postponed and the flags at the Banks's Stadium are flying at half-mast.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Anton's parents, family and friends at this very sad time.

I couldn't actually believe what I was reading.  My thoughts go out to his family and friends.  Absolutely devastating.

It's probably of little comfort but at least he died doing what he loved and he was probably a happier person for it. Not too many people die in that way but still tragic for his family and all who knew him.

It's really sad, fit, athletic people like him dying randomly imagine what chance we have you know! Kinda scary too RIP to him.

About 5/6 years ago, a guy in my school randomly died, he was fit, played rygbi, died outside his house in the middle of the night and nobody found him 'til the morning He was 17 ish.

My heart goes out to his family and freinds, someone so young and with a bright future ahead of him.  You will never walk alone RIP Anton Reid
