Jordan Henderson (Liverpool -> Al-Ettifaq (5 months) -> Ajax)

Anyone have any stats of how we have played without Henderson in the team in the last season and half.  From the start of last season.  I bet it would be grim reading.  He is the spine of our team.  He missed the Besiktas game and we lost.

He missed the Chelsea game last season too. And we lost.

what exactly does that prove?  I mean Babel scored several worldies, does that mean he was a top player?  hell even Aquilani showed glimpses of brilliance, does that mean we should have kept him too?  Lallana has some incredible touches as well, wonderful technique etc.  But he hasn't exactly set the world alight has he?

again, this is not about moments of brilliance; Henderson has had those.  What it is about is consistently playing at a very, very high level, game in and game out.  Not just sometimes.  Not just when you're arsed.  Every game. 

So you admit Hendo has had moments of brilliance. He just isn't consistent enough for you. But clearly he is becoming more and more consistent and these moments of brilliance are becoming more regular proven by his increasing number of impressive assists.

So if he continues improving do you think he can become a brilliant player?

I think anything is possible.  Mignolet for example was absolutely terrible for a year straight, but the last couple of months has been one of the best keepers in the league.

so I don't exclude anything.

Gonna to have to gloat today on Jordan's behalf. He was excellent today. And what a cracking goal, he has that in him. Since SG has been missing, has stepped up, and full credit to Hendo, we haven't missed him.

Mate I'm on this forum a long time. My opinion of Hendo is crystal clear. I just seem to waste a lot of time having to defend his quality when it doesn't need defending.

He was excellent today. Fantastic performance coupled with a fantastic goal.

Mate, Cabella and Sissoko are better than every one of our CM's or AM's. Cabella isn't far away from Coutinho.

Yes, i too fall into the category of people who find Henderson overrated, just because he runs and runs and has passion doesn't makes him a great midfielder. In every top team he'll barely make the bench. He needs to be more consistent and improve on his vision across the pitch, shooting technique and so on.

After today's performance:

Yeh and the Crystal Palace game where we couldn't hole a 3-0 lead.  And against Besiktas.   That in itself makes huge statements if one wants to think about it.  All big games all played under huge pressure.  We needed our future Captain in all of them games.

ANOTHER captains performance - he's flourishing with the armband. Thought he had gone AWOL earlier in the season (though everyone had, to be fair) but he's back and better than ever.

Well done Jordan - he sure likes to grab the opposition midfield balls at the moment.

He's very vocal as a captain don't you think. Remonstrating with the ref and such - that attitude is needed from some players.

Thought he was on a par with the little magician today, gave him the nod for MotM because I thought his leadership of the team gave a slight edge. Top notch.

Hendo had a great strike today and did well overall but far from his best performance. Seemed to miss quite a few opportunities to be I. The right place at the right time which he ushay flourishes at. Actually thought his work rate was a little down from his standard. But, he showed good leadership and you always love his passion especially when he scores.

A very good player who has been one of our most consistent players this season, keeps producing even when not at his best

what a strike that was is it just me or our the players starting to shoot more from outside the box due to confidence starting to rise, we need to turn burnley over then blackburn and i think we will contiue are run of form until Arsenal away which will be our toughest test
