Good for Henderson getting a new contract after all we need a good squad of players if we are serious about winning trophies.

Although a little bit concerned about handing out such a long contract to a 28 year old with a serious chronic complaint and for a player who relies so much on his athleticism can't see him playing much at 33!

I thought his foot issues had been sorted?

Don't think you can ever cure plantar fasciitis, it's a case of managing it and avoiding flare ups.

Think of it as a tendinopathy.

Apparently it can go away on its own, but in any case, we'll have to wait and see if and when it affects him again.

I think a 4 year contract would have been enough.
It is good we didn't let him go on a free.
He is not on our level, but he would certainly do well at a team like Leicester or Southampton and we don't wan't Emre Can saga again.

I just love how these posters ignore everything that Klopp says about the skipper.

Good article posted by WAHS in the other thread.

Jürgen Klopp gives his "general" a 5 year contract:

Been following the recent debate here on the Henderson "quandary" and so it seems has the manager.

Fully deserved and shows how highly the manager thinks of him and what a key player he is - he will form a great partnership with Fabinho and Keita when all are settled

His heart is in the right place and most important he only wants what is best for our club. While I have not always been a fan of his I have never doubted the effort he puts in when he plays for us.

Yet more continuity from Jürgen, I’ve never thought he is a superstar but a very steady player and capable captain and gets more capable as he gets older. Great move.

Are you Jordan Henderson? All I see you comment on is on old Hendo.

Anyway, I’m happy he signed, keeping up the feel good factor. He proved me wrong back end of last season and deserves it.

Still not sure on the strongest midfield 3 as Henderson doesn’t seem to have the technical ability compared to the others, however he does have a good engine and is quite tenacious (we certainly need that).

Put it this way,  Henderson played 3 backpasses in our last game that played our own players into trouble. Van Dijk poor kick to Alisson that resulted in a goal can be attributed to a backpass from Henderson that was not necessarily the best option defensively.

But but but that's only because he didn't have a preseason and as opposed to all his English team mates without a proper preseason he is sh*t and is deliberately meant to be eased in so that he doesn't burn out in December or some such drivel.

Bottom line he is a valuable member of the squad but he is a long way form being our most important midfielder these days, especially when we finally get Fabinho up to speed.

Fully justified for a player who is way more important than a great number of observers understand.

Thankfully Jürgen isn’t one of them.

Well in kid - keep building.

How do you attribute Van Dijk's and Alisson's errors to Henderson?
A very tenuous observation that screams agenda.

It was Henderson's back pass to Gomez or VVD which set the situation in play, I remember it at the time, thinking it was one pressure after another pressure after another with very good pressing form Leicester.

We need committed hard working players like Hendo and Milly in the squad to lead by example.

When Milly leaves Hando will be even more important.

      Like a broken record really

Still looking to blame Henderson for the Alisson error just smacks of vindictiveness

Had all this in the other thread hence why it got closed

Henderson put Gomez under pressure, it ended up going back to Henderson, where he put Van Dijk under pressure seconds later, who then put Allison under pressure. Henderson was determined to get a pass to our defence during a time where they were marked by Leicester forwards.

why is it vindictive to state facts. If he said that the sky is blue, is he being vindictive? No, just stating facts. He didn't say Henderson was 100% responsible, but partly culpable. These things don't seem to get noticed until it ends up being against a tough side in a knockout game. To be the best team, it means tweaking the side after victories not only losses.
