Only LFC captain to win the premiership.

That alone gives him legendary status.

Hendos days as a regular starter are over I'm afraid and that is not a good thing. His energy and pressing was really important as was his presence on the field. I hope he cam become our new milly and play his games, set the right example on and off the field. He can still be a massive part of the club.

With all that said ... I'd discuss it with him ... see how he felt about that. I've got my eye on making Salah club captain.

For some reason Hendo has been underrated and under appreciated over the years, even when we were winning silverware.
Though when fit I'd say he's been one of the first names on Jürgen team sheet, a leader, motivator, top lad.
With midfielders coming in, and with his age, can see him starting fewer games next season. But will continue to be an influence.
Surely no way he'd go into Saudi retirement yet when there are proper trophies still up for grabs.
Want to see another Hendo shuffle before he hangs up his LFC boots...

      defo.

I think the hope will be we can rotate him properly this season so he is fit for the bigger games, so the new lads and existing younger lads need to stay fit and healthy.

I'd say VVD is next in line after Hendo, with Milly gone. Based on some armband handovers in recent seasons, not sure Mo is pushing at the top of the captaincy pecking order.

Not for me mate, Hendo is and will remain our captain until either he or Jürgen decides otherwise, hypothetically if Hendo  were to retire the armband I’d be inclined to hand it straight to Trent, he is for me a natural leader, has deep seated Scouse roots and knows exactly what it means to not only play for the Redmen but to Captain the club and the prestige that that brings, following in the footsteps of Legends such as Tommy Smith, Phil Thompson, and more recently Stevie G, he would carry that burden with relative ease, he for me is another one man club and really cannot see him wearing another club’s colours ??

yea pretty sure its this now...

      1. Hendo
      2. VVD
      3. Ali
      4. Robbo
      5. Salah
      6. Fab

Goes on seniority and who the players picked couple of season ago.

Salah club captain? Before VVD. I’m probably wrong but Salah doesn’t seem the captain type to me whereas VVD made for it even though his performances have been lacking for various reasons.

Think next season anyway Hendo will be captain, don't think that'll change. Was more just saying who might be next in line. Or who might be captain if he's not playing.
Usually that's been Milly, or VVD.  With Milly gone, just leaves Virgil.
Seem to remember some fuss a while back about Mo not getting an armband in a game where VVD was captain, and when he was subbed off, gave the band to TAA ahead of Mo.
So TAA is up there too.  For whatever reason I 'think' Mo seems to be lower down the list.

And for me a captain is not just a figurehead, it should be someone who IS seen as a leader, can motivate players and leads by example.  That's why it's good to have leaders in the team, and nice to see that the new guy Dominik is already an International captain, another one who might be able to step up at some stage.
