It can get really complex, they have up to 7 refs + non skating refs too... Because it's played at a tempo and in very close quarters you need hand singles to make sure they know whats going on. Also you can do upto 3 fouls before being sent off (as long as its not something like elbow's to faces or a punch) for the mandtory 1 minute. Yet even with that many ref's and the very tough sport they get it right more times than the Premership Refs do!

As I can't be arsed to read the rules in full  :P , is it essentially a race over a set number of laps where you can use force to barge opponents out of the way?

      Kinda Retrobate

You have 4 blockers from each team. They skate around the track trying to stop the Jammers (1 from each team) passing them. Each time a jammer passes an opposing blocker they get 1 point. Each 'Jam' lasts for 2 minuets - each game is played in two 30min halfs. The rules go from there - as long as you dont punch or elbow anything goes.

Last game there was 1 broken wrist, 3 concussions, 1 dislocated shoulder and a broken collar bone. I've just had my elbow joint replaced after a spill during training - so been out of action for 6 weeks since my surgery and have another 4 to go. So when I return I want a cool as F**k name..!

      Haha, fair enough.
Sounds like something my sister would be into, she used to play ice hockey. Well, she might have been into it 4 stone ago.
