Welcome to LFC Lloyd, hope you flourish here!

What's with the England flag?!  :P  He's Welsh!

...According to The Daily Mirror, “Jones (Lloyd, not Phil) impressed Liverpool during a trial at the end of the season and Dalglish took time out from chasing his big-money targets to talk the kid into signing.” Lloyd Jones is in fact, like Phil Jones, a centerback and he is in fact a Welshman that Liverpool managed to sign from Plymouth.

      http://football-talk.co.uk/26642/transfer-news-liverpool-beat-rivals-to-sign-centre-back-jones/

Can't have everything, thought the name was enough. He might just make it to the end of my FM10 career, planning to 'retire' at the end of this season or next.  All depends on whether I have the chance to win my 10th PL in a row.  Finally lost Steven Gerrard this season as well, retired aged 63.

The latest player under our scout's gaze is Liverpool's Lloyd Jones.

      The scout reports...

We check on Liverpool youngster Lloyd Jones, considered one of the gems of the youth set-up at Anfield.

Jones, though, is an adopted Merseysider as he is originally from Cornwall. Born in Plymouth, Jones began his career with his hometown club.

However, by the time he reached his early teens the commanding youngster was already attracting Premier League interest and at 15 when the decision was made by Plymouth to sell, he had a number of options.

But then Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish stepped into the battle himself and personally oversaw the capture of Jones - which came just days after they missed out to namesake Phil to Manchester United.

Liverpool paid an initial £20,000 to Plymouth although add-ons would see the deal rise considerably higher for the Welsh youth international.

Jones has progressed rapidly for the club despite Dalglish's departure - , impressing with their Under-18s before becoming a regular with the Under-21s.

Jones was then handed a squad number by Brendan Rodgers and named on the bench for their Premier League match with Fulham, to further emphasise his potential.

On the back of being included in the squad, Jones has also been offered a new three-year deal to commit his future to the Liverpool.

Not 18 until October, Jones could very well have made his league debut before his birthday.

He is a commanding centre-half who, stature and skill wise, is well beyond his tender years. His main feature is his dominance in the air - but he is anything but a lumbering giant.

Graceful when in possession, many onlookers at Melwood have likened him to legendary figures such as Ron Yeats and Alan Hansen, which is just some indication of how high a regard Jones is held in.

      The scout says...

A real gem of a young defender, Liverpool know they could very well have something really special on their hands in Jones.

And the player himself could not want for a better place to learn his trade and be given time to progress - this lad won't be moving, but is certainly one to remember.

      The Scout rating...

      Shooting: 6 out of 10

      Passing: 6 out of 10

      Tackling: 7 out of 10

      Heading: 8 out of 10

      Pace: 7 out of 10

      Vision: 6 out of 10

Current ability: 6 out of 10

Potential ability: 10 out of 10

      OVERALL SCOUT RATING: 56/80

      Current value: £2million

      Potential value: £30million

I feel like we might see this lad in the first team next season, for friendlies at least. Wisdom, Sama and Jones are probably the youngsters that might feature early on at CB?

Not sure about Sama, seems to have gone backwards in his development lately. Prone to getting sent off against the mancs too.

Agreed mate.  His game's suffered a lot since Sokolik got injured and think he's more likely to make the step up than Sama.

      Jones extends Cheltenham loan deal
      2nd Feb 2015 - Latest News

Liverpool Football Club can confirm Lloyd Jones has extended his loan deal with Cheltenham Town.

The 19-year-old initially moved to the League Two club on a temporary basis at the start of January, along with fellow Reds Academy starlets Kevin Stewart and Jack Dunn.

Jones has today completed paperwork to prolong his spell at Whaddon Road.

The defender has made five appearances so far for the Robins, operating at centre-back and right-back.

Dunn and Stewart have been recalled by Liverpool after picking up injuries.

Obviously, they didn't feel they could risk playing him whilst battling in the relegation zone. And now that Paul Buckle has departed, they've sent him back.

Kudos to the lad for giving it a go as you say. Takes balls to try being brave on loan as a young lad.

Teenage Liverpool centre-back Lloyd Jones has signed a new contract at the club.

The 19-year-old, who moved to Anfield from Plymouth Argyle as a 15-year-old, has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal.

Jones skippered Liverpool’s under-21 side for the latter part of the 2013-14 campaign though Cameron Brannagan has generally had the armband this season.

He has yet to make his first-team debut for the Reds but was an unused substitute in the 3-1 win at Fulham in May 2013, shortly after which he signed his first professional deal with the club.

Jones spent six weeks on loan at League Two side Cheltenham Town in the New Year before returning to Liverpool’s U21s.

The defender was then farmed out to Accrington Stanley in March for the remainder of the season, a spell during which he scored his first-ever senior goal with a 30-yard screamer beyond Liverpool team-mate Danny Ward, who was on loan at Morecambe.

He was capped for Wales at U17 and U19 level before switching allegiance to England, for whom he has represented at U19 and U20 level. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/liverpool-fc-youngster-signs-new-9295774
