      Cars, teenage kicks
      Jun 19, 2011 10:14:15 pm
Today after much searching I have finally purchase the car I lusted after when a teenager. A Mk II Rs 2000 been grinning like a Cheshire cat all day.

What car did you long after when young?

I've got mine, Mk 5 Escort Cosworth, big turbo model, full raven black leather, in stunning Ford Ploaris grey, spends the majority of its life under a dust cover in my garage.

I used to have a chiseled nose RS2000 with forest arches etc with a larger tunnel running 2wd Sierra Cosworth engine box and drive train.

Also had a sapphire cosworth 4x4 in Magenta and a 3 door in grey with rs 500 looks.

Some where in here I posted a couple of pictures of a Mk4 escort rs turbo I got carried away with, I fitted mk5 escort cosworth front and rear wings with a lot of fabrication, wrc front and rear bumpers, wrc rear spoiler, zvh turbo engine with big bhp and lots of chrome nits under the bonnet.

But that's what I do for a living to an extent, I work for myself repairing salvage damaged cars.

?? They only made the three door before the sapphire came into being ( I hate the sapphire by the way )

Edit re read it yes it is a cozzy in original White. Needs some work on the body but the engine was original never been played with so I have a great foundation to work with.

I loved my Saph, it was running 450bhp a proper hooligans car, whats sort of money have you got in the 3 door ?

I know they are holding fairly well at the moment because I was looking at them a few weeks ago, because I have 04 BMW BMW 320d as my daily runner, so I was fancying a toy, but I ended up buying an 02 Audi a4 3.0 s-line from a salvage yard that only needed a rear door and repair to the wheel arch.

Got it for just short of 6k at the beginning of the year, funny that my daily driver is a  330ci guess the old ford lovers go for the same car. But changing it as it's frightening on juice and you can't have everything. Thinking of going really mad and getting a 500 arbarth just for
      fun.

Not bad 6k for a 3 door, every one I looked at was 10k upwards but they were mint, but even if you put £2k into the body, you won't have done too bad.

Here's a selection of some of the motors I've repaired and sold on.

Heres one I'm one with 2006 Zafira Sri, Panel and glass damage, I'll make a fortune on this as its unrecorded and I got it for pennies.

      And my naughty S-Line motor.

Like the tungsten MG very nice. Yeah I think I got a bargain with the three door I am not the best re bodywork but going to take my time and get it mint.

Bought that Tungsten MG last year I think it was because my missus had the silver one, it was bog standard when I got it, but bought the X-Power coil overs and stainless exhaust, 18" allesio wheels, and the leather interior, to put my own stamp on it.

Then I bought that 230 SLK kompressor, that was too naughty though, didn't like roundabouts or corner especially when wet.

If you take your time with the body work, you should be ok, if you need any genuine cosworth panels theres a place in Gateshead called ford parts can get you any original panel you need, they do mail order too.

As a kid (teenager) the Mini Cooper S or MK1 Escort Mexico.

I did manage to get my MK1 Golf GTi albeit 10 years old.  Loved that car and still regret getting rid of it  :(

I've never been a big car-boner guy. I prefer gas efficiency and being comfortable. Guess that comes from being poor my whole life and my parents being really cheap :D

That being said, a 67 Camaro SS Convertible would be a car I'd love to buy and work on.

It would have been 20 years old this August so would be a "classic" in the true sense of the word mate.  It's the only car I've ever owned that I can still remember the reg number  ;D

Mine was black with the double silver stripes down the side and thin red trim round the grill.  Looked beautiful after it's full respray courtesy of my ex's fit of jealousy.  He thought he would polish it with paint stripper, the ba**ard  :f_steam:

I’ve never really been a petrol head but I always loved Triumphs

I bought the missus one for her 21st, broke her heart when she had to sell it to buy a sensible car that could take a baby chair.

      Someone pissed someone off:

Always wanted a Mk1 RS2000, my mate had a MK1 1760 BDA and that was fast. I wouldn't have one now, I can't afford the money pit that those kind of cars become. Bloody kids. ;)

Something like this would be nice if anyone wins t'lottery and feels generous:  ;D

Here's my baby, also got a brand new RS500 Motorsport shell with all the trimmings, just need time to build it, kids have put a halt to that. This is my 3dr Cosworth, got to say that i love the Escort Cosworth but the 4WD puts me off, too safe, i'm a RWD man myself.

That is very very nice hardcore, although I would of gone for Full White on the spoiler without the black trimmings myself Even so it's a very nice motor.

Thanks mate. The spoilers have the black fillet as standard, they are factory standard, all Cosworths had the black tip on the whaletail, the Diamond White, Moonstone Blue and Black. Get a picture of your RS2000 up if you can. I love the MkII Escorts, the most successful rally cars of all time. If you are ever after parts for Mk II's then let me know. My mate across the road owns a tyre garage and he races and rallies Escorts, he has 2 Mk II's fully prepared, 2 Mk II's to Group 4 Spec, a few Mk 1 Escorts and about 18 Mk 2 Escorts in both 4 door and 2 door format. He buys, imports and sells them for a living and he's a really genuine bloke. Knows everything about them, builds them, race prepares them and everything else to boot. If you ever need anything let me know and I'll PM you his number.
