As we have so many players on the Summer Transfer Board I thought It would be a good idea for posters to have the opportunity to name the next signing. To make it more interesting posters are only allowed to nominate one player. As soon as the next player signs the thread can be locked thus enabling the winning poster/s to smugly remind other posters of their success in the future. As for me I have not got a clue who it will be,at least i am honest.

Downing. I have a hunch that Adam will be a massive saga that will turn out to go nowhere, just like Gareth Barry.

Can't say who will be next? Really believe we will get a signing that'll be announced that nobody saw coming. Take your pick from all the one's mentioned, but i reckon there could be a real unknown on the way. Just my opinion.Who it'll be god know's,but i believe there are target's out there that we know shag all about. Wait&see is all we can do.

The point of this thread was to guess one person... why are people stating the obvious that "we don't know who it will be" or "take your best guess" or "wait and see?"  ???

It is blatantly clear that we have no idea. :)

As I said earlier, I think it will be Downing because it has the most realistic look about it.

      That gets my vote too.

After that, I predict Comolli will stealthily pull a young, fairly inexpensive French player out of his bum that we never saw coming.   ;)

This is a difficult one now. It is looking like Doni at the moment which is hardly exciting. The whole squad returns to pre season on Monday which will include the guys that went out on loan. So we should have players like Aqualani, Insua, Degan and a few youngsters that went out. Kenny may be saying that he has to take a look at the whole of our squad before he makes any signings for key positions or who will be shown the door, which is fair enough, he may well feel that Insua could make it and there would be no need to go into the market for a left back, this maybe the reason why our transfer dealings have stalled at the moment.

There could also be the reason that maybe FSG are not backing us financially as much as we hoped. JH has already said that we will not be held to ransum on transfer prices. We,ve already missed out on a couple because we have refused to pay clubs asking price. The Conner Wickham transfer was a strange one for me. Its said he wanted to come to us,how true that is i dont know, and he met all the criterior that FSG have always banged on about, potencial, young and a good sell on value, yet we still did,nt stump up the cash. FSG have been very wise so far. They made a massive statment when they wasted 35 million on Carroll and the brillient signing of Suarez with money that they recieved from player sales. To date we have signed Henderson for 16 million which again is money we probably recieved from our new investments in sponsorship but when its time to put thier hands in thier pockets they seem a little shy to me. Maybe its just my bad thinking but untill they make a marquee signing with money from thier pockets, not from sales or investments, thats when i,ll say yes they are backing us. For now though they seem like they have short arms and deep pockets.

I just hope our high morales of not paying over the odds which are commendable dont stop us getting players who can help us win things. Maybe without #CL football we will have to pay a little bit over the odds.

I know its a good thing that we're looking for "value" and we're not overpaying and I'm not worried yet that we've only signed 1 player. But I don't want us to get into the last 2 weeks of the window with us only have signed 1 or 2 players and we need to rush out to buy the scraps that are available.

We've got to be one of the slowest teams when in the transfer market

Well Arsenal, Chelsea, Spuds or Man City have signed no players so far so we're one of the quickest teams in the transfer market at the moment. Loads of people are overreacting, KK and DC know what they're doing, they've been in the game so long and have far superior knowledge compared to any of us on the forum.

I think the idea was to lighten the mood in the bitchfest that is the Summer Transfer board.

I'm not going to guess who the next signing will be but no harm for others to have a go.

Nail on head, that is exactly what the thread was for and that is also why I refrained ftom saying who I thought the next signing would be.Also the point I was making was I did not think any of us posters really have any Idea who it will be till it is announced by the club.I don't know if Kenny Dalglish reads the summer transfer board but some of the players mentioned must give him a good old laugh.cheers
