Alexander Doni (Liverpool > Botafogo)

Being a big Totti and Mexes fan I used to watch lots of Roma games (Roma being my Italian team) and I can say Doni is a very talented keeper however he is prone to lapses in concentrations. He used to exasperate me because he would make brilliant saves and then would let in a long hoop. He is I believe a very eccentric goalkeeper but I never thought he would be willing to play as backup because last season he was very unhappy with being no 2. Anyway I believe he will show his qualities in the Carling cups and the FA cup and I would like to say he is a different class from Jones.

So how do you compare him to Howlerio Gomez but in all he's a Liverpool player now so we must show him the support he needs.

To be honest i can see Doni keeping Pepe out for the remainder of the season & i hope he does, pepe has got too comfortable in goal.

Pepe is a better player globally but has not been "good" at all this season, he looks out of form or confidence since months. We are one of the 4 teams allowing the smaller number of shots to the opposition in open play this season, but one of those taking the most goals from these shots, it says something imo.

Doni clearly has never been as world class as Reina some years ago, but is a more than decent goalkeeper, who succeeded to save Roma from humiliating results in many occasions, when their defense had big problems with constant injuries, and I'd say he is likely to perform better than an out of form Pepe, for the coming games, or why not if he performs the remaining of the season.

I'm actually looking forward to Doni getting some game time. Might be a nice shakeup to the team.

I actually think Mr. Doni may take this opportunity to make Reina No.2.  Love Pepe but if Mr. Doni shows his mettle no way should he surrender his place straight to Pepe imo.  Who knows is this the karma in life for Mr. Doni to be our No.1 keeper??

With our defence - might not be too clever.  Wish him the world of luck.  And yes, if he does a good enough job, then I don't think Pepe can necessarily expect to walk back in to the team.  Similar to what happened to Carragher when Agger and Skrtel bedded in.

Thought Brad Jones had, which if not injured makes him match sharp/fit or whatever a keeper should be.

Wish the lad the very best of luck of course. But the blunt truth is he is paid to do a job, time to step up.

Considering how rusty he was from lack of use, it looks like he did a nice tidy job for us today. Well done Doni!
