Cant really blame him for the goal and good to see him dive even if in rein to save the shot!

Still though we seem to have an unhappy knack of conceding with the oppositions only real shot of the game! It's been like that for a while now for us!

Thought he did well. At least he attempted to save the Villa goal but he can hardly be blamed for that because the team lost the ball needlessly.

      Even dribbled past the striker!

      Job well done, Mr. Doni.

I think we'll be fine with him in goal. But I must say, that back pass he trapped of his thigh was a magnificent bit of skill.

Not in the same atmosphere as our Pepe.

Hopefully he keeps tight until Pepe is back though.

      Decent job on the weekend.

Pepe hasn't been in Pepe's supposed atmosphere either, so I don't really care to see Doni being kept as our first keeper.

Just another long line of shocking comments directed at Pepe.

      I'll fix my post though:

Pepe in his current atmosphere, is atmospheres above Doni.

Yeah, I was like 'WTF' when Enrique played that stupid ball backwards. Doni did very well, though.

To be fair, Doni didn't have much to do in the Villa game. There wasn't a lot he could do about the goal which was well taken and at least he dived to try to reach the ball.

I'm not that good at meteorology, so i can't quite say anything about the atmosphere stuff... but I can say that Pepe isn't playing like he was a a couple of years ago, and so I wouldn't care for Doni to be our first keeper. I mean, why should we let go every mistake Reina makes (more than a few this season)? Just because he's our Pepe? I do love him, but as far as I'm concerned,  I'd say give Doni his chance, and if he delivers, keep him there.

I think it would be better that Pepe recovers from his bad form/lack of confidence, because one thing is sure for me, having seen the two at the top of their carreers, Doni has excellent reflexes on the line and knows when to jump, but is a class under when it comes to libero play, catching the ball, distribution, or regularity. I'd say (at their very best form) Doni is a last quarter of UEFA cup level keeper while Pepe is a last quarter of CL one.

The only thing that can make him seriously challenge Pepe for first choice, would be Pepe definitively falling far under his best level, what nobody should hope for.

Now if Doni performs well in the two coming games and if when Pepe returns from the ban he gives some sh*t performance, I'd say let's start Doni until the end of season (but still I wouldn't see him becoming first choice keeper for the next, rather becoming a number two used every 4-5 games  instead of an unused one...).

      Really feel for the lad.

He was absoultely shattered when he was sent off the look on his face was one of a man who knew he just might have blown all his chances and finished his career at Liverpool.

Can't really fault him for it either he reacted instinctively, I hope we do appeal and the ban is lifted.

Don't understand why you would throw in the dig about his pay, it's hardly his fault he is rated second choice and has had limited opportunity.

Flanno has to take the rap for this one, as much as I like the lad. Doni had no choice but to go for the ball, Hoilett did what most strikers would have done and the ref (who was admittedly far too keen to reach for his cards in general) had little choice but to give him a red.

Agree with most of the posts here, feel bad for Doni. Flanagan didn't help him one bit with that awful backpass, leaving Doni pretty much no choice. Can't help but feel sorry for him.
