Can only go by what I've seen in the Copa and he's looked half decent on the wing, linked up well with Suarez a few times. Some talk about him being swapped for Raul which is probably just putting 2 and 2 together with the portugese club.

Unsure if Raul has picked up a knock but got no game time today and has been played out of position in earlier games, not exactly inspiring that your manager wants you if you're Raul. So could be some merit in this, certainly adds fuel to the fire of him leaving.

I'll still pass. We need some solidity at the back. Too long we've had a Riise, Aurelio, Dossena, Insua. Get a solid left back capable of defending, not just okay at it.

Well I'll take my own opinion and I rate him. Him, Cissokho or Ansaldi would all be very welcome for me.

He linked up very well with Suarez in the Copa America i wouldn't mind us getting him but, would prefer Enrique or Baines

There is a lot of chatter on twitter about this, but we have all seen this before.... We were supposed to have signed Enrique, Cissokho, and Jones according to Twitter, so don't hold your breath.  I'll get excited when I see the news break on .tv

He'll be on holiday right now. Doubt much movement will happen for a bit on this one. But hey, who knows...

"Palito" is a workhorse. Im Uruguayan, and I was one of the hundreds of thousands who were surprised to see him on the national team. He made us proud with his duracell bunny display. Not sure if he can fit into the Liverpool squad, but he is versatile, and can play anywhere on the left side.
The only thing I can assure is that with him, Luis and Dirk, you be out-ran by any opponent. Those 3 never stop...

Pretty much said its not as clear cut as all the media are making out, but a deal wouldn't be out of the question

I like the guy because he would be able to do the job further up the pitch. With Downing and Pereira we would have our left flank covered. At 25 years of age, he has many good seasons ahead of him and would certainly fit with our new policy. Not to mention that he is Uruguayan and Luis would certainly welcome him.

Just found this, pretty much what I've already said that I fancy him more as a left back and a defender in the right team with the right people around him.

This guy is from ESPN Brasil. With the risk of being unfair to him, who I don't really know, but I wouldn't take his tweet very seriously at all, as I don't think these guys from ESPN would have any information in this kind of deal. I remember in the last summer window one of their most important commentators posted on twitter that Liverpool had swapped Babel for C. Cole, a lot of Brazilian fans believed it but in the end it became clear he was saying it based on internet rumours only.

Looks a decent signing would like him here instead of some of the name we have being linked with.

Liverpool are looking at Porto's Uruguayan left-back Alvaro Pereira, according to reports in Portugal.

Reds boss Dalglish is on the look-out for someone to fill the hole on the left side of his defence - right-back Glen Johnson played a significant amount of games there in the second half of last season.

The Scot lost out to Manchester City for Arsenal's Gael Clichy while he has not followed up long-standing interest in Newcastle's Jose Enrique.

However, Pereira has a reported £17.5million buy-out clause in his contract, and with Liverpool having already spent close to £50m on players this summer and yet to offload a number of fringe players, that price may be too high.
