To every single person who signed the petition. My whole heart goes out to you.

We have stood up without causing riots and the silent voices have to be heard now.

We are a club that may finally be able to tell the world 'we told you so'

Expose the lies before Thatcher dies.

      Justice for the 96.

Well said. I am without political bias (effectively apolitical) but all those figures from "higher authority" must be exposed no matter how powerful or revered they were. Liverpool fans have taken the full brunt of Thatcher and her lot's disgustingly ignorant, careless and hurtful actions which must be fully exposed.

And shame on Cameron's current bunch for trying to protect her image. Shame on them.

We need the sigs to keep coming really. Wouldn't put it past the current cabinet to come up with a few duplicate sigs.

I think they will keep coming in Kenny, just to show support.  This has been a fantastic effort by everyone involved.

Wouldn't suprise me if they throw out a few non UK deductions. Would love to see it reach a higher number just to leave them with no doubt.

What a brilliant effort!  Agree we need to keep on going, let's not give the government any excuse to deny the petition.

      It's over 102,000 now!

      Hillsborough petition tops 100,000 names
A petition calling for the release of secret papers about the Hillsborough disaster hit 100,000 signatures last night – enough to trigger a Parliamentary debate.

The online petition calls for the publication of documents about Margaret Thatcher’s discussions on the 1989 tragedy, in which 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death.

Among the celebrity backers are footballers Michael Owen and Joey Barton, actor Simon Pegg, comedian Dara O’Briain and current Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish.

Information Commissioner Christopher Graham said the papers should be made public but the Cabinet Office is appealing his ruling.

The office said an MPs’ committee would consider the issue when Parliament returns next month.

Hillsborough petition hits enough signatures to trigger Commons debate
      http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/22/hillsborough-petition-signatures-trigger-debate

      • Joey Barton led Twitter campaign to encourage names
      • Backbenchers must consider allotting time for debate

An e-petition calling for the release of all documents about Margaret Thatcher’s discussions on the 1989 tragedy has reached over 100,000 signatories.

An online petition calling for ministers to release cabinet papers about the Hillsborough disaster has reached over 100,000 signatures – enough to trigger a debate in parliament.

The Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton led a campaign on Twitter that swelled the number of supporters adding to the calls for the release of all documents about Margaret Thatcher's discussions on the 1989 tragedy in which 96 Liverpool fans died in a crush.

Barton, who grew up in Merseyside, posted more than 40 Tweets to garner support for the cause. Celebrity signatories include Michael Owen, Billy Bragg, Simon Pegg and Dara O Briain. The petition follows a ruling by the information commissioner Christopher Graham that the papers should now be made public.

The Cabinet Office has said it will appeal against the decision in order to allow the Hillsborough Independent Panel, established by the previous government to look into the circumstances and aftermath of the disaster, to oversee the disclosure of documents.

Under the government's new e-petition rules the Commons backbench business committee must consider allotting time for a debate on any campaign that attracts more than 100,000 supporters.

A Cabinet Office spokesman said: "The e-petition has now reached 100,000 signatures and the Government will notify the Backbench Business Committee in the House of Commons in order that the Committee can consider its suitability for debate when Parliament returns in September.

"The e-petition will remain live and people will be able to continue adding their signatures. The Government will respond to those who have signed the e-petition in due course."

Wouldn't say Joey Barton led the campaign... ffs! Fair play to him for plugging it quite a bit, but that is stretching it.

Where's that from TKID?  He played a good part, but come on!  So did lots of other prominent tweeters, Liverpool sites and other football sites to name a few.

I agree Joey Barton played an amazing role. He should definitely be given a lot of credit.

Caution is wise. In 2009 NYC CAN led a ballot initiative in New York City that would have established a local commission to conduct an investigation into the events of 9/11. 80,000 New Yorkers signed the petition, far exceeding the required number of signatories. However, the City of New York refused to comply and the State Supreme Court ruled in the City’s of favour. The will of 80,000 New Yorkers was rejected.  If I’m honest I expect similar disappointment this time but that doesn’t mean I’m not pushing this everywhere.

Let’s see what respect our politicians have for the will of the people. The more signatories we get the greater the pressure on them to debate and disclose. There will be a number of fake signatures so we must have significantly more than 100,000 so they can't throw the fake argument at us.

      Let’s keep pushing it

Remember Lawrenson's little snide comment "Right, can we just get on with the football now please" during the live six minute protest we had against Arsenal a few years ago in the cup.

      Utter tw*t of a man.
