Signed, and that is F***ing disgusting. Desperate cu*ts will do anything, but they are only delaying the inevitable.

Liverpool MP Steve Rotheram urging David Cameron to ensure full disclosure of hidden 'Thatcher Hillsborough' files
      Ben Rossington
      Aug 18 2011

A LIVERPOOL MP was today taking the fight for full disclosure over the Hillsborough stadium tragedy to the Prime Minister.

Former Lord Mayor Steve Rotheram today vowed to go straight to the top in a bid to get the hidden ‘Thatcher files’ released.

And Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish urged Reds fans to sign an online petition calling for all government documents relating to the disaster to be made public.

Yesterday, the Cabinet Office appealed against an order for it to open hidden files detailing Margaret Thatcher’s thoughts at the time on Hillsborough.

Earlier this month, the Information Commissioner said the confidential reports about the discussions the then-Prime Minister had in the aftermath of the 1989 tragedy should be released as soon as possible.

But the Cabinet Office believes the papers should go to the Hillsborough Independent Panel and the families of victims before they are put out for wider viewing.

Walton MP Mr Rotheram said he, Liverpool-born shadow education secretary Andy Burnham and other Merseyside MPs would go to David Cameron in a bid to have the files released.

He said: “Andy and I will be sending David Cameron a letter today.

“Before the election, he talked about open and transparent government. Now’s the time for him to put his money where his mouth is. It will ultimately be his decision.

“We’re hoping for cross-party and cross-country support on this to put the pressure on them to release the files.

“While the decision to appeal is disappointing, it’s not totally unexpected. It was always likely the Cabinet Office would take that option.”

And Anfield manager Dalglish took to social networking site Twitter to urge fans to back an e-petition that would force a debate in House of Commons should it get 100,000 signatures.

By this morning, more than 15,000 people had already added their names to the call for full disclosure.

The Information Commissioner’s decision for the files to be released came after a BBC request for the papers under the Freedom Of Information Act was turned down by Downing Street in December, 2009.

Yesterday, the final day an appeal could be lodged, the Cabinet Office announced it will challenge the ruling.

A spokesman said: “The Government’s view is that it is in the public interest for the process which is under way through the Hillsborough Independent Panel to be allowed to take its course.

“The terms of reference for that process includes the intention to disclose information to the Hillsborough families first.

“The Cabinet Office absolutely agrees with the principle of providing information to families about the Hillsborough stadium disaster but we believe it is important any release of information should be managed through the panel’s processes and in line with their terms of reference.”

Margaret Aspinall, chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, said: “All we are concerned about is that the independent panel is supposed to be doing the job it is doing.

“We are happy with the way it is progressing at the moment.”

Information Commissioner Christopher Graham said he did “not agree that the existence of this panel is a relevant factor because it did not exist at the time of the request”.

Mr Graham also said the passage of 20 years since the information was recorded was a key factor.

A total of 96 Liverpool fans died in the crush at Hillsborough during an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.

An inquiry found that overcrowding was due to the failure of police control.

That is unfortunate. Could have had a lot more signatures.

      Nearly reached the 25k mark.

The HJC saying not to use that address, as it gives government ammunition and lessens credibility of petition.
