For the first 10 years he was absolutely brilliant for the fans and for the share holders.  For the best part of the next ten years he kept the shareholders happy for the last few years in my opinion he was just dragging the club in a hole.   He should have left about 5 years ago with dignity.  He is leaving a squad which is nowhere near as good as the one he took over.   In my opinion he had a magical partnership with David Dein after he left it was all going pear shaped.    I can understand people giving him tributes as our fans are too classy, but as I write this up and can remember the aftermath of Istanbul and him farting on SSN -  Liverpool didn't deserve to be in the competition.  An absolute whinger with no class if you ask me.  King Kenny told him what he deserved.

Arsenal struggles began after buying young prospects & selling in for huge transfer fees whilst investing into the new Stadia build...

Wenger for all his critics had Arsenal punching obove their weight to be honest... Going to take them a while to recover and get back into a top 4 team.
Sorry can't agree with you Shabs... Arsenal had to sell players like  Nicolas Anelka to Real Madrid, and Marc Overmars and Emmanuel Petit to Barcelona... The transfer of Anelka partly funded the club's new training ground, in London Colney, which opened in October 1999... These player were vitally to Arsenal, and once they had moved into the Stadium paid of the loan to build it in record time... But because they had to reduce their wage build to do so, and by then you had Roman splashing Millions to sign players many of which Wenger wanted to sign, and a player like Ashley Cole defecting to Chelsea Arsenal then struggle, especial as the owners wanted to keep the new lower wage bill going...You then had City splashing their new found wealth, and the owners of Arsenal taking to long to respond to increasing the wages of their squad making it even more difficult to attract let alone keep key players

Please please please hire Brendan. They will sink without a trace if he goes there.

Make the right appointment though and they could be a force again, but something tells me that the Arsenal board won’t want a strong personality like Simeone or Rafa, who would both be a perfect fit.

Rested Aubamayang in preparation for his rest on Thursday due to being cup tied, whilst playing Lacazette the whole game.
Was really struggling, put him on and they won 4-1.
Wenger brings the criticism on himself.

Listening to 5 Live and Ian Dennis their commentator/reporter throwing some thinly veiled criticism towards Arsenal about contriving an atmosphere tonight (there'll be a light show and flags on display you know ;) ). Drives home the point by referring to Anfield (of course) in recent weeks and the Liverpool fans ability to pack the stadium half an hour beforehand and rely on their own organic support.

Hope this is where the spiral down for them begins, they get in a manager who throws away money and the fans realise how good of a manager Wenger was.
Liked Wenger and his philosophy, although he did realise in the end that money do buy you success.

I don't believe he ever didn't realise money bought success.
Moving stadium restricted their spend, and was only something they were beginning to rectify.
No patience in football though and fans had turned on Wenger years ago.
They are spending, but will now need a new manager's vision and that'll mean transition.

6 consecutive defeats on the road for them now. Bournemouth, Swansea, Spurs, Brighton, Newcastle and today United. Bunch of gutless half-men.

Despite his reluctance surely there is a bit of relief in Arsene Wenger that it's all over?

Will be very hard to replace him now.

Could be a decent appointment for them. Interesting to see how he adapts outside Spain though only ever had foreign success with psg and pretty sure even I could manage that team to win ligure 1. Another quality addition to the prem though, we really have a monopoly on best managers in the game

      Scuse me?

      Just noticed this thread.

      Where the F**k have I been ?

If the Arse were any threat or any use then we would have a "Lets All Laugh At The Arse" thread but to my knowledge we haven't.

So having humoured the idiot who started this ... I will be out of here as quickly as I saw it.

Still absolute dogshite I see. Seems it was asking for a bit too much for Arsenal to threaten a weakened City team at home.

Crap club for 10 years now and getting further away from the top 4.

We can empathise having spent a few years in the doldrums ourselves.

      Big problems at the Arsenal.

Last week a crap Chelsea, this week a crap Arsenal but Arsenal had their chances and the Citeh defence did not look great plus Emerson had quite a few brainfarts.

Watched the Arsenal - City game in the boozer after our game, have to say they looked F***ing awful. I know it'll be a transitional year at the arse, but I think it will be a while before they're a threat again.

Wonder if him leaving will have any impact at all at Citeh.
Massive job to do at Arse, so many players need shipping out.
