Mauro Zarate’s future is in the balance after his brother and agent painted different pictures of Lazio and the links with Arsenal.
The striker is on the market after refusing to play in the Europa League play-off, but the club has said it will only sell for his €20m buy-out clause.
There were reports today of negotiations with Arsenal, but his agent claimed otherwise.
“Everything is in stand-by,” Giuseppe Bozzo told lalaziosiamonoi. “Arsenal? No, I still say Lazio.”
There have also been linked with Manchester City and Liverpool, so the Premier League seems to be a likely destination.
However, Zarate’s brother gives a different view of the situation and resumed his long-running row with President Claudio Lotito.
“The problem is Lotito,” said Sergio Zarate. “He is turning down all the offers.”
It is rumoured Lazio would accept a loan if they were paid €4m plus a mandatory option to buy at the end of the season for €16m.
Inter had confirmed their interest in Zarate, but seem to have concluded their transfer strategy with the arrival of Diego Forlan from Atletico Madrid.
