Not sure if Ramirez would come to play behind the striker or on the left side... even if the idea is to use him out wide, I would still want someone else for the wings, we're very short of quality in those positions

I agree but I also think in modern football 'winger' is an overused term. Talented footballers such as Ramirez can flourish where ever you put him, he might not be a traditional 'winger' but as a wide player he would function fine.

We definitely need more talent, and ability on the team.

Yeah that's true, when I say winger I just mean someone to fill those positions, it doesn't mean that I want the "run and cross" traditional winger... especially in a possession-based formation, I'd rather have talented versatile attacking midfielders combining in attack

I felt last season we had no chance with Mata and Aguero with no Europe. Ramirez isnt a world-beater yet so we have a very reastic chance of getting him.

Hope we get him. Spurs will be very keen to see our scout reports, aren't they?

I know what you meant mate, and I agree. For me Ramirez fits the bill 100%

Mata was completely open to joining LFC last summer.

Depressing reading that at the moment.

And John Henry took the piss out of us on Twitter for wanting him.

      We got Stewart Downing.

We had a friendly with Valencia lined up and he said something along the lines of, 'Maybe Juan Mata will appear wearing a Liverpool kit'.

I remember reading that John W Henry and Tom Werner thought that the YouTube video of Stewart Downing kicking the balls into the bins to be real.

To be fair ynwa, Werner did say they realised that wasn't real before we went in for him, though I suppose that is what you'd say in that situation anyway isn't it?

Back on topic, I like the look of Ramirez. Looks to have the all the physical attributes needed, not so sure about his mental game at this point.

Yeah, I remember them making a statement saying it was fake, but would there be any need to release a statement if they weren't gullible enough to fall for that video.

Still amused me, and I just thank the lord they're not making our transfer decisions. We'd be just YouTubing the entire league for the best complications, and signing those players.

As much as I woud love Ramirez here, I think we could miss the boat again if we don't get a move on. That's not to say we haven't made a move, You know, the silent approach like, but it would be nice to see or hear of some positive action. My nerves are F***ing shattered watching these posts every day and seeing nothing materialise......  :mixed-smiley-009:  Get the signature on the contract!

There seem to be too many going in for him.  I mean if city are interested and willing to pay him city wages, there's really no reason he'd end up here other than believing he'd get more play time, if that's what was most important to him.  But either way I'm sure city would be more than capable of persuading him he'd play.

If Juventus and Man City are in for him, we've got no chance. Sad but true.

Nah apparently Gaston Ramirez has been iffy over City because he knows he won't play. They say he's keen on Liverpool...

One thing we do have in our favour is that we already have two Uruguayans at the club and that could prove decisive for a young lad like Gaston.

Not completely true. He will look at City and see a competition headache, and Juventus - well, maybe a move abroad interests him? Who knows. One thing I will say is the name 'Liverpool' automatically sparks interest in a player, regardless of the last few years. Some more than others yes, but its there.

Saying we have no chance with those two teams is just negative thinking. We always have a chance, just depends on an individuals priorities.
