Liverpool's former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are still seeking damages from the club's present owners, former directors and the Royal Bank of Scotlan, almost one year after New England Sports Ventures gained control of the Anfield club in the high court.

Hicks and Gillett lost control of Liverpool last October when NESV, now Fenway Sports Group, repaid a £237m loan the American businessmen had taken out with RBS and the US bank Wells Fargo. Hicks claimed he was the victim of an "epic swindle" but his appeal to have a $1bn damages claim heard in the US was dismissed at the high court in February.

Mr Justice Floyd's ruling, however, permitted Hicks to sue for damages in this country and Liverpool's former owners have served notice of their intention to proceed by filing papers to that effect. Hicks and Gillett are claiming hundreds of millions in damages from the RBS, NESV and former directors, believed to be Martin Broughton and Christian Purslow.

Hicks tried and failed to remove Purslow and Ian Ayre, who has since succeeded Purslow as the managing director at Liverpool, from the club's board during his desperate attempts to retain control but was ultimately thwarted in the high court. The Americans' latest legal challenge could take several months to come to court.

The Liverpool manager also revealed that Daniel Agger is ahead of schedule in his return from a fractured rib suffered in the defeat at Tottenham Hotspur less than two weeks ago. Both Agger and Glen Johnson, who is recovering from his second hamstring injury of the season, have taken part in light training this week although the Dane is unlikely to feature at Goodison.

Tom Hicks and George Gillett back to challenge Liverpool with new lawsuit
The dark spectre of Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jnr returned to Liverpool on Thursday night as the former owners launched a multi-million lawsuit against the club.

      6:30AM BST 30 Sep 2011

Hicks and Gillett are suing Anfield’s new custodians, Fenway Sports Group, for hundreds of millions in damages following their ousting from the Merseyside club a year ago.

They are also taking legal action against their former creditors Royal Bank of Scotland, former Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and the remaining members of the Kop hierarchy who oversaw the demise of the old regime.

The former co-owners failed in an attempt to switch legal proceedings to the United States last February, and their latest efforts to be reimbursed for their huge losses are being dismissed by Anfield sources as futile.

A date for a court hearing could still take months to determine. But papers have now been served on the key figures who forced Hicks and Gillett out of the club during a dramatic week at the High Court 12 months ago.

Hicks famously described the events leading to the takeover by FSG in October, 2010 as an "epic swindle".

He and Gillett were forced to sell after failing to repay debts worth £282 million with the RBS, missing a series of deadlines.

At the time, fellow board members Broughton, former managing director Christian Purslow and current chief executive Ian Ayre used their majority votes on the Anfield board to push the owners out.

Any legal eagles know whether we could launch a class action suit against them for emotional damages?

Herpes and Gonhorroea are havin a f***in laugh,if they seriously think they can still somehow gain some sort of recompense from a virtually state owned bank and FSG they are indeed seriously deluded, i say let them f***in try because they are already a laughing stock in the financial world and when they are laughed out of court and facing large legal fees, so lets just wait and see what happens, and when it's all over we can use our internet terrorist activities to further humiliate these f***in tw*ts.

I suspect you will find that despite all the debts they have built up and the misery they have caused they will still be living a lifestyle that most of us can only dream of.

That's what pisses me off. I would loveto see these two out on their arses! Just like Mortmer and Randolph ala Trading Places!

I hope they go for us, lose and we counter sue for wasting our time and brand damage. They deserve nothing from LFC - we deserve some kind of retribution from them!
