Are we making this the defacto Scottish Premiership thread as well?
Rangers winning 5-1 against St Johnstone (a plucky side in recent years thanks to Tommy Wright's effective management there) on the same day Celtic have lost to Steve Clarke's Kilmarnock 2-1 (going down to a last gasp winner against the Ayrshire men). After the draw to Villarreal three days ago, it's been an excellent week for Stevie.
Celtic are, shockingly, mid table. All very well rousing your troops against Rangers a couple of weeks back (and a thoroughly deserved and dominant win it was) but if you can't summon the same fight and spirit in your other matches then there's something seriously wrong in terms of attitude at that club. Storm clouds ahead for Brendan?
Hearts still 5 points clear despite yesterday's 0-0 draw to Livingston. It may not prevail, but these opening couple of months in the Scottish Premiership have been wonderfully competitive. As good a standard of coaching/management throughout the league as I've seen it in a while. For sure, the quality may be sneered at but in the absence of this, a parochial/embedded community spirit and rivalry really shines through the Scottish leagues. The same goes for the lower leagues in England and it's British football's greatest strength.
