Alternative Hip Hop/Rap

Was in a bar the other night and this boy was on vinyl decks playing some F***ing amazing early hip hop stuff.

I recognised one or two tracks and I've googled it and the genre is called Alternative Hip Hop apparently, althought doesn't have to be early 1990's but those tracks were.

Can anyone recommend some more artists on top of De La Soul and the Roots?
