John Barnes is to take part in the new series of 'Strictly Come Dancing' which starts next month.

Also taking part is Gabby Logan and her Rugby playing husband Kenny, the snooker player, Willie Thorne, Rod Stewart's wife, Penny Lancaster, the actress Stephanie Beacham and Kelly Brook, actress and model, which no doubt will please Glenbuck enormously.

Let's see if John Barnes can light up the dance floor like he lit up Anfield many times.

Indeed! Used to love seeing Digger dance defenders inside out back in the day.

Should be funny seeing him on this though. He probably wont do any worse than Willie Thorne, will he?  ;D

And excuse me MsGerrard, Glenbuck wont be the only one enormously pleased to see Kelly Brooke shaking her bussoms on the dancefloor... ;)

Just checked out the BBC site, and seen Digger is dancing with Nicole Cutler, the woman who danced with Nicholas Owen - and went on out last year at week one!
I also see Laetitia Dean and Kate Garraway are in it.

      Great video Ken.
Brought back some fantastic memories of one of my all time favourite players.

I used to love the way he just caressed the ball into the net and not just head down and hit it.

If he dances just 10% as good as he was a Liverpool footballer, then he'll be a joy to watch.
But, he needs to dance a hell of a lot better than he sounds as a commentator.

Aye! This way he can stay out of the presenter's chair. He's not too bad as the commentary side-kick, tho, IMO.

Couldn't agree more Tommo and Jammydodger. Great vid. He was truely one of my most favourite players. Not only did he naturally caress the ball into the net, he was the most unpredictable player going at that time. You didn't know if he was going to dance past a defender - on many occasions some defenders - or pass a killer of a ball into space for someone else to score a tap in. You just knew if he was on the ball, four defenders would be at panic stations. But then there was Beardsley and Aldridge to think about as well.....
Anyone got a spare Tardis?  :f_tardis:

As for his commentator skills Tommo.......ahem  ;)

      For me it is sad.

I'd rather not have one of my favourite ever footballers appearing on that sh*te.

As much as I admired John (Digger) Barnes as a player I feel the original Twinkle Toes name belonged to Peter Thompson.
