Houllier's been appointed to his old job as Tecnical Director of the France Football Federation....  ::)

Houllier to be named France's new technical director

PARIS (AFP) — Former Lyon and Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is set to be named France's new technical director of football, media reported here Tuesday.

Houllier, out of work since leading Lyon to their sixth straight league title last season, occupied the same position in 1988 when Michel Platini was the manager of France.

Houllier, who turned 60 on September 3, is expected to be confirmed in the job on Friday by the French Football Federation, Le Parisien newspaper reported.

"It's the right time to announce the decision," FFF president Jean-Pierre Escalettes said.

Houllier will be succeeding Jean-Pierre Morlans who has filled the role on a temporary basis since the departure of 1998 World Cup winning coach Aime Jacquet.

What exactly does a technical director do at international level anyway? It's not exactly like the players are always around to work with.
