What do you think we should or need to improve on?

Okay, one year ago, we just got taken over by FSG.

In January 2011, we saw the departure of Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel with Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll coming in. Most importantly, we saw the King back on the throne - with Steve Clarke, his sidekick being added shortly after.

During the summer, we also saw the departures of Raul Meireles to Chelsea, Joe Cole and Alberto Aquilani out on loan and the sale of various deadwoods (Degen, El Zhar, Insua, Poulsen, Konchesky, Jovanovic and so on). Coming into Anfield, a mixture of experience, youth and potential - Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Sebastian Coates, Doni, Stewart Downing, Jose Enrique and Craig Bellamy.

Okay, this isn't about what we expect to win or anything but after all that money spent, and majority of the problems already fixed (left back problem, midfield and so on), what do you think our squad is still lacking?

8 games into the season, everything looks great compared to this time, last year. We're playing better, there's more harmony in the squad, there's probably better atmosphere in our matches and we're at the right end of the table, though it could be better.

However, three issues still bother me.

I still think we lack serious pace in the side, especially on the wings, like what Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale offer to Spurs or Theo Walcott does to Arsenal. It'd help a ton of Gerrard plays some hollywood throughball to the wings and our speed demon gets on the end of it to either score or set up someone else.

Also, I really think we need to improve our finishing/goal scoring. We had better chances on goal against United yesterday and only managed one goal. I think United had one shot on target, which was the goal. Sunderland game was also the same. We dominated Stoke away, but we failed to score.

Lastly, we need to be able to win games after going behind. The last league game we came back to win was against Bolton under Roy (2-1) last season and I think the last away game we came back to win was also against Bolton in 2009/2010. Contrast those to 2008/2009 where we went behind 11 times, winning 6 (Wigan, United x2, Man City, Portsmouth, Boro ), drawing 4 (Arsenal x2, Hull, Man City) and losing the Boro. That's a massive 22 points from a possible 33 points from losing positions.

I don't want to be negative or anything but I just feel these are some of the improvements we should be making in order to add some finishing touches to our project!

3. We need to buy a specialist right winger.

4. Most importantly We need to be patient and allow this team to gel.

On the pitch:

1) Finishing. It's ridiculously poor at the moment and nowhere good enough for a team challenging for top four let alone the league title

2) Defending, especially set pieces. Work needed there and although it was better against United, sloppy play from a corner cost us.

Be more clinical in front of goal. The chances we are creating though it highly encouraging.

Yeah we need to improve our passing, so does every side because no side has a 100% possession rate not even the greatest football sides ever - Liverpool of the 70s and 80s. Every side has it's faults, ours included.

So yeah we do have areas to improve on but we're constantly improving. Kenny and his staff will be aiming to improve on what they think is where our weaknesses are. So it's improving as fans that we need to do rather than say where we're in need of improvement on the pitch.

Some very valid points. A lot of point you make have become more common amongst us reds (including myself I asamed to say) and dose need to stop. We are Liverpools fans we are a large part of the reason why the club is famous and we need to behave as a Liverpool fan should not the way soccer am/sky/ect tell us football fans should behave.

I totally agree with this post, especially No 4, cause that's something that a lot of fans don't have, patience.

Seriously, I agree with those who said that we have to improve our finishing. I want to see Carroll more often. His goal against Toffees gave him a lot of confidence, and he needs to keep it.

And a last thing we need is to make the substitutions on time. Kenny seems to be afraid to make changes or something. He usually make them since the minute 70 and he never completes the 3 substitutions. Last saturday we needed Bellamy on field and I'm still waiting for him.

I agree. Needed Bellamy but wasn't used. Surely, when trying to win a game at home we should have played him for 10/15 minutes at least.

Learn to rip teams up with the chances we get given to us!

I feel we need a real decent CB, one that can use the ball well. We need more pace on either wing & real quality goalscorer that can work with Suarez & a playmaker or 2 (GREEDY!). Picking names from the sky just so you get a feel for the kind of players that would take us to the title I'd say the likes of Schweinsteiger, Hazard, Sniedjer, Hummels, Vertonghen, Muller would be more than welcome.

Next summer will see Joe Cole, Aqualani and possibly Aurelio and Maxi leave the club imo.

If we get Champions League, then I hope we sign Eden Hazard.

I actually think the same as well. So often I see a cross being put it in and it either doesn't get to anyone or there's freaking no one there!!

Oh, I also feel that maybe Kenny can use his substitutes a little better. I actually wanted to see Bellamy come on in so many matches but he never did.

Well, I would like to see us attacking the January market. We should definitely be looking for some "Moneyball" signings. The list of next summer's Bosman is pretty heavy, so there will be some quality players available on the cheap in January. Also, I think that it is time for us to sign some high profile flops from the continental big clubs, at least initially on loan.

Spot on, but I would also like a top quality Centre back if possible.

We definitely need to kill teams off early like we used to in 2008/2009.

I know it's a totally different team but we're capable of doing it. Scoring 2 or more goals before half time gives us some breathing space in the second half.

A top draw finisher would be great other than that we're not far off being a decent side.
A bit of patience & belief from certain quarters would also help. We can give any team in the prem a game already as proved against utd.

Before the last transfer window, everybody agreed we needed 2 wingers. We signed 1, but all of a sudden it was the "perfect" window, because if you disagreed, you were just a negative b***ard I'm still waiting for another wide player though. Don't have to be a out and out winger, but pace and skill is a necessity. More players getting into the scoresheet would be great too.
