Man City Home (League Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg)
      Dec 01, 2011 09:36:36 pm
So how do we join this?as it isnt very clear!!

      http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/carling-cup-ticket-notice

After our thrilling victory at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, Liverpool Football Club would like to announce that tickets for the Carling Cup semi-final home leg tie will be on sale next week.

We would like to remind season ticket holders who selected to join the Carling Cup Auto Cup Scheme as part of their renewal, that payment will be taken automatically for the home leg of the tie, week commencing December 5, 2011.

Please note that season ticket holders were required to join the scheme at the point of renewal and further registrations now are not permitted.

Tickets will then be made available to official members to purchase. Due to the unprecedented run of away games in the competition and depending on the opposition, the club may be required to use members' previous purchase history from this season's Barclays Premier League to manage the sales process and meet stadium safety requirements.

Should any tickets remain, priority will be given to season ticket holders not in the Carling Cup Auto Cup Scheme. Full details will be provided in the selling notice.

We would ask that supporters please wait until the club publishes the selling notice next week, after the fixture is confirmed, before contacting us with any queries regarding this fixture.

Season ticket holders can find further information about the Auto Cup Scheme in their renewal booklet or by visiting the Auto Cup Scheme Information.

      Wrong, it is!

With us only being in two cup competitions this year, ended up ticking both ACS boxes, had confirmation they are taking money out of accounts this coming week for the Carling Cup semi second leg.

So priority for the City match goes:

      - ST holders who signed up for auto cup scheme
      - Members
      - ST holders who didn't sign up for scheme
      - Remaining availability

Would be nice to think the second bite of the Cherry for members will go on previous Carling cup attendance this season, beforethey use previous league home game attendance from last season.

I don't know if it's right, but won't they only count previous Carling Cup attendance this season for the away game at the Etihad?

Its a joke that is,im a season ticket holder who has been to every away cup game this year but I never tick the ats box because I always move seats for cup games to sit next to my mates. How can a member who pays £30 and as probably been to no cup games get priority over someone who pays £700 plus for a season ticket and has been to all cup games. Our ticket office has got this badly wrong

Andy Proudfoot: Exeter, Brighton, Chelsea – so why is Liverpool FC's Carling Cup semi-final at Anfield with Man City members only?

THERE are few things in football more guaranteed to stir up controversy among football fans than the allocation of tickets for big games.

In 2007 the means of distributing tickets for the Champions League Final in Athens cost Rick Parry a lot of support that he may have found useful when later defending his role in the sale of the club to the Gruesome Twosome.

Fulham fans rebelled when season tickets holders found themselves able to buy four tickets for the 2010 Europa League final while no provision was made for others who had travelled to all their away games through that memorable campaign.

On each occasion the clubs faced the accusation that they were either favouring corporate sponsors or merely choosing the easiest way to get rid of the tickets with the minimum administrative inconvenience.

The trouble with deciding who gets to attend a big match of course is that everyone thinks they are entitled – from the die-hard ever-present to the guy in Plymouth who has followed the team for 10 years but has never been to a game.

Generally speaking, with demand for virtually every game high, Liverpool have tried to strike a balance between rewarding loyal supporters and allowing casual fans the opportunity to attend the odd match.

The loyalty scheme in operation for away matches is not without its critics, but at least largely ensures that those who travel to far-flung corners of the country in midweek for the least attractive games also get to see the big confrontations at say Everton or Old Trafford.

For home games, a large number of seats are set aside for casual fans through the members’ scheme or late availability. The transparency of publishing these allocations on the website is to be applauded.

A shame then that the club appears to have got it so spectacularly wrong with regard to its proposals for the home leg of the Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

According to a preliminary announcement last week, season ticket holders who registered for the auto-cup scheme will get first ‘dibs’. No problem with that.

Next priority though, is not remaining season ticket holders but ‘official members’, who are warned that they might actually have needed to attend a match to qualify. The rest of us may be able to pick up a few scraps from the ticket table; while there is no credence at all attached to attending all four away games in this season’s competition.

In other words those fans who have paid £30 to be an official member, and may not have been to a single match, are to be given preference over those who paid out over £800 in advance to attend 19 matches; and over those who have attended every game home and away this and other seasons, including trekking to Exeter, Brighton, Stoke and Chelsea in this very competition this year.

And all because, by opting not to join the auto-cup scheme, we failed to commit to buying tickets for a match with unknown opponents on an unknown date at an unknown venue five months in advance.

There’s still time for the club to rectify this alarming state of affairs – otherwise they’ll be committing an own goal that even Jamie Carragher couldn’t dream of.

For the Man City home game - for season ticket holders I've got little sympathy for you.

For season ticket holders who have been to some of the away games in the League Cup I do have sympathy for you.

They should have allocated the home game first to those who had attended an away game in the League Cup and then put the rest on sale to Members and ST holders at the same time.

Interesting that last year only 300 season ticket holders who hadn't joined the Auto Cup decided they fancied the home game against Northampton.  Now we've reached the semi final - the crocodile tears from the ST holders who didn't want to join the Auto Cup don't wash with me.

The following Q&A will hopefully answer many of the queries that have been sent into the club.

Why have the Club not given priority to Season Ticket holders?

Season Ticket holders all had the opportunity to sign up to the Carling Cup Auto Cup Scheme in the summer.

What notice did the Club give to Season Ticket Holders about this change?

This policy was clearly outlined in the renewal booklet, also sent via email and advertised in a news story published online on the Official Club website in the summer.

An Auto Cup Scheme page has also been listed on the website since the summer that states that should Season Ticket Holders not join the Auto Cup Scheme; the Club cannot guarantee they will be able to purchase a ticket for the first home game in either the League Cup or FA Cup.

Why have the Club used loyalty to sell this game to Members?

Given the opposition it is necessary for the Club to control the majority of the sale.

Why didn't the Club use the Northampton Town game from last season?

Although over 22,000 attended on the night, less than 11,000 individuals purchased tickets in advance of the game, some of these supporters managed to purchase multiple tickets during the sale and the rest of those who attended purchased at the turnstiles. Less than 300 non Auto Cup Scheme Season Ticket holders purchased for this game and the majority of them are now on this year's Auto Cup Scheme. The majority of non Season Ticket holders who attended are now official Members who will have the opportunity to purchase this game.

What about using League Cup games from previous seasons?

We have looked at other League Cup games from previous seasons but they do not provide an opportunity to manage the sale correctly.

What about using League Cup away games from this season?

Again most of those supporters who have travelled this season are already on the Auto Cup Scheme or are members.

Why have Members not signed up beforehand, surely it should have been the same as with Season Ticket holders?

We clearly stated that our first home draw in both cup competitions would see the Members' sale commence.

During the summer we also issued around 2,000 new Season Tickets, some of which were still being sold in September which made it difficult to conduct a Members' enrollment as Season Ticket holders have priority on their seats and had to be afforded the opportunity to join in their new seat.

The Club is currently making plans for this entire process to be conducted in the close season. However, it is important to note that this year's process has been clearly laid out for all supporters since the renewal period.

Its all a joke. To cover their backs they should give priority to people have been to the previous rounds 1st. League games should only count when there are still tickets left. This season all the games have been away so its only 5000/6000 fans. Can't believe the fans going away cant even watch their team at home.
