Everton keen to lure Thierry Henry back to the Premier League
Everton boss "The Chosen One" made a cheeky attempt to lure Thierry Henry back to the Premier League.
Henry, currently training with Arsenal during the MLS off-season, was at Arsenal for the club’s 125 year anniversary celebrations.
Moyes is desperate to strengthen his strike force in January and would love to snap up Henry on loan from New York Red Bulls. Henry is due back for a Red Bulls training camp on January 15.
Everton did a similar arrangement with LA Galaxy and Landon Donovan in the past and Moyes admits he had a quiet word with Henry.
Moyes said: “I already asked him (Henry) on the way in. I asked him, he’ll tell you; if he wants a game let me know.”
Moyes, who took off Louis Saha midway through the second half and replaced him with centre half Sylvain Distin, insisted that he is keen to bring in a striker and added: “I’m hoping we might be able to do something.”
Henry has already made it clear that he has no intention of rejoining Arsenal even on a short term deal.
But Arsenal winger Theo Walcott says that Henry is in good enough shape to play in the Premier League.
Walcott added: “Thierry still looks good, is training with us and you hear the fans chanting: ‘sign him up, sign up.’ I don’t know if there’s any chance - you’d have to ask the boss that.
“He’s still fit, playing in the MLS and enjoys playing his football so much that I don’t think he wants the break.”
