Wigan Athletic 0-0 Liverpool - Post match grumbles

Enrique was man of the match for me.  Agger and skrtel were decent. Have to say though Maxi Kuyt Adam and downing were woeful. Our midfield was piss poor. Barring our full backs we had a severe lack of pace in the team

Have to say agree totally about are pace going forward, looked a totally different team from Sunday.

And you could include Henderson, who looked a little bit lost in the middle at times in the second half.

Enrique motm, but Downing and Maxi were piss poor tonight.

Our midfield was woeful thought diame and mccarthy dominated Adam and Henderson.  dunno who was worse tonight downing Adam or Kuyt but there performances were as poor as ive seen this season

They were equally bad, Kuyt looks like a shell of last year and Adam took a step back this match.

To be fair though, I don't really think Kuyt is a wide player. He's a striker that can play wide, just like Henderson is a CM that can play wide. Doesn't mean either of them should be shoved out there, though.

I believe they call that square pegs in round holes.  We need at least one electric, creative winger, and two would be fantastic!  I believe our current crop of forwards would score more goals if the oppositions defenders weren't able to sit so comfortably in their own penalty box and wait for a predictable ball to come in.  We are far too predictable..... not near enough creativity/flair/invention/etc.

I have no intention of defending Henderson as he was utter sh*te but I did notice at about 25 minutes he did start limping but seemed to run it off.

Not sure if it had any long term impact - he certainly wasn't the only player who didn't put a shift in.

Compare our squad with the rest and, guess what? At most we have the 6th best group of players so to expect anything much more is just foolish.

We need several new, top class players to make 4th and a total revamp before we can think of 1st.

In fairness Wigan are no pushovers and made life extremely difficult , martinez 3-4-3 formation worked well for him and they could have nipped 3pts.

Just watching the highlights as I'm just home from work but hard to tell how well we played. Seemed to have a few decent chances in the first half and also the penalty opportunity.

I see some one has questioned the manager and that is absolutely ridiculous and some people really do need to get a grip.

That is right Daz, quite honestly if project owl was in force these ties we have been getting would be losses and we would be sitting in the 10-12 spot. We are inconsistent in both scoring and closing out opponents but we are a leaps and bounds ahead of how we played last year. I feel the team may be feeling a bit jinxed right now and we are going to need a big goal fest pretty soon to restore confidence.

Just to clear it up for you Kenny is the last manager of this club to win a league title and one of a handful currently working in the league who can say that.

If you can't see how he has turned us around in just under a year then you must be blind or stupid.
