Not sure that I understood the subs on Weds.  With 30 mins to go and looking like we won't score, do not see why you would not throw Carroll on sooner and push him up with Luis, who is often fairly isolated when we play 1 up.

Pens are a bit of a concern - we cannot afford to be missing them with our current goalscoring form.

Downing is looking awful at the moment and I don't see how he can be starting - to be honest he doesn't really look any better than Carroll and he is only getting the odd 5 mins.

I had to put up with David Pleat as summariser - not a big fan of him and he certainly doesn't like us.

Downing is a discrace, Carrol is out of his depth, unsure about Henderson, so much for Damion and our transfer policy

Carroll had 5 minutes and is 22 years old. Henderson will be big, he's already shown his potential. Agree on Downing though, his work rate is embarassing at times

The lack of options for the player in possession was very disappointing.  Too few of the Reds ahead of him made angled runs, meaning we often played in straight lines, which suited Wigan's defence.  Suarez typically pulls wide (to the left), which creates a gap in the middle.  But without Stevie G, who's willing to fill it?
