Going to stick me neck out here and say what i was told.We are interested in him but are only willing to spend between 14-16 million pounds they are demanding 25+.We are monitoring soldado - he said lpool are interested but are not willing to pay 25 mill +, so will see what happens on this 1.

 To be fair mate that is almost verbatim what I was led to believe a few days ago. It's interesting that Bent himself has remained very schtum, despite being a twitterer. I was talking to a lad yesterday who showed me a text from an ex Villa captain who has heard that we've been in contact with Bent through "associates". Might be complete nonsense obviously, but my guess is it's not without foundation.

Yea i would say we inquired and sh*t ourselves when we heard the pricetag???

 I like Bent as a footballer and he would score goals  but the fee would be to high,

 Demba Ba would be a much better option and he has a £10 million buy out clause

 At 10 million quid they'll get knocked over if it's true. I watched all of the Newcastle Man Utd game the other night and he was brilliant. Good in the air, quick, strong and hardworking, he obviously also has an eye for goal. He's come on a bundle since West Ham first signed him.

Not a bad shout that lad BA! i think the club should look at the possibility over his availability.

  Must admit after thinking about it, it sounds to good to be true

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has claimed that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish told him personally that he is not interested in signing Darren Bent this month.

Speculation has been rife that Liverpool will make a move for the England international in the transfer window, although both McLeish and Bent have played down any prospect of the forward departing Villa Park in January.

After seeing his Villa side move into the FA Cup fourth round with a comfortable victory over Bristol Rovers on Saturday, McLeish subsequently revealed he has spoken to Dalglish about the recent rumours - and was told there was no interest in Bent at Anfield.

The Scot insists no other club has expressed a desire to sign Bent, who joined the club for an initial fee of £18m in a surprise move last January, this month.

"It's not frustrating, it's just the transfer window," McLeish said of all the reports about Bent. "People like to speculate and use social networking sites and they are having a field day.

"If there is anybody out there that wants him they certainly haven't contacted me and Darren has said on the record he wants to stay at the club.

"Whenever I have asked anyone outside the club I've been told flatly 'No'. I have spoken to Kenny and he said there was nothing in it."

Wah wah wah waaa.....

The thing is, KK is wiley enough to encourage clubs who were doing business to remain tight lipped like we do BUT to get McLeish to lie on national tv?..

Liverpool have sealed a deal to sign Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, according to a Mirror journalist.

The England international, 27, emerged as a surprise target for Liverpool late last month and it appears that a move has already been finalised.

Speaking on Twitter, David Anderson said: “An Anfield source says Darren Bent’s move to Liverpool is done.”

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish had previously ruled out a potential switch for Bent in the January window with the frontman only joining the club 12 months ago from Sunderland for £18m.
