Sterling will be more effective than him within a year.

He would be a good option to have in the squad, his wages could be a stumbling block.

Agreed, and the only single thing I think Walcott actually has over Sterling is that he is a very good finisher. The guy has always been a striker. If we were to go in for him I would hope it would be for him to play as the central striker.

Maybe we could make an Terry Henry out of him..... or maybe not !!

I would like to see him at Liverpool. As people have said he's quick direct and can finish and being small would not hinder him due to our on the deck style of play!

I think he would be a great asset for the team, surely he would convert some of those chances that have cost us so dearly.

The question will always be why Wenger hasn't chosen to play him as a striker, until he proves he can play there effectively and more importantly, consistently the question will always linger. Say what you like about Wenger but he does seem to know how to player's strengths, admittedly when you have Van Persie in the team you're not going to oust him for some young up and comer in Walcott but the fact that he's gone out and bought other strikers with Walcott there and effectively pushed him down the pecking order is a worry.

Having said all that I think he'd be an o.k. fit for what we need at the moment, for long term I'm not 100% convinced and his wages would probably be huge so it'd be somewhat of a gamble, but enough of a guarantee of goals and performance levels that I'd be perfectly happy if we could pull it off.

I've seen a lot of people commenting that his wages could be a problem here but Theo himself has stated that wages are not the issue holding up contract negotiations. I'm sure I read that he is currently on £75k/wk which isn't excessive for an experienced Premier League player in a club that regularly finishes in the top 4. If he's now asking for £90k, even that isn't ridiculous* and could be matched here.

I hear what you're saying Rep and I was jumping on that band-wagon also. I think it's much in light of the current wage cull and not digging our way out of a hole just to jump straight back in. I agree with you though that I don't think Walcott's wages would be nearly as big an issue as many of our recent mistakes as you're pretty sure you'll get at least a decent return, possibly an excellent one, in other words a far more educated gamble.

They (Arsenal) have offered him £75k in his new contract, he's turned it down because he wants £100k.

Personally I don't blame them not giving him what he wants and I can't see us being willing to pay him that either.

either way, relations must have completely soured befween wenger and himself.I doubt that our owners would cough up 100k pw for him if the rumours of his wage demands are true.

He's a very accomplished finisher and that was epitomised in last night's cup match. He rarely misses the target and is so cool when one-on-one with the keeper to beat.

I could quite honestly see him score 20 goals for us with Suarez and Sterling on either side of him and Allen/Sahin(Lucas)/Gerrard just behind him.

I can see Carroll being sold on to fund the a deal for Walcott who would be a very clinical signing for us which we have lacked since Blondie went over to the Chavs.

      ^Indeed

Walcott has more pace although Downing is very quick too but Walcott knows how to use it, his dribbles are more efficient and he likes to score and his crosses are good(Downing was supposed tobe good at them but he can never find someone!), he can play upfront and has a more than average finishing.
For 12mil it is a good signing but if he have a good season till January I think he will want to come here and with his contract issues we might get a very good deal.
