The lack of cutting edge in the final third tonight was alarming.

Yes, possession is one thing - but creating and scoring is another.

I think we had a basic game plan of crossing it into Carroll, every opportunity possible. Crosses weren't good enough, along with Kompany and Toure dominating Carroll aerially, didn't bold well.

Can't give away a two goal lead to a team like City and expect it to be easy.

Not enough support for Carroll with too many aimless balls into the box.

Kuyt offered next to nothing and Adam was also very poor even though we played well first half.

Not enough urgency in the second half but City defended so well it was always going to be difficult.

We've outplayed Citeh comprehensively twice and lost 4-1 on aggregate

Seriously? Man City didn't play that well and still won 3-0, but the lack of fight AND BALLS shown by us in this match meant we didn't deserve a single thing from this game.

As far as I'm concerned, the likes of Downing and Carroll can re pay the fans at the stadium tonight. If they can't do what they were bought to do then that's the least they can do.

That was retard. Man City were sh*t and yet they won 3-0.

All three goals (or at least 2) could have been prevented. Misjudged the first shot and that was a dive by Yaya Toure. If that was given for a penalty, we should have got 20 more penalties this season.

Downing needs to stop shooting near post like he has in most of his shots on goal and learn from Adam Johnson got to place it far post.

Kenny needs to be starting Gerrard and Bellamy from now on.

We must be the best team in the world up to the oppositions penalty box.

      About right that.

Kenny needs to be starting Gerrard and Bellamy from now on.

Clever.  One of them has started 2 games in 10 months and you want him playing 14 games in about the next 50 days.  The other one has a recurrent knee problem that usually means he can only play once a week.

Go back to the drawing board and engage.

      Frustrated to bits after that.

How much ball did we have? Didnt use it well enough. Downing should have had us 1 up before we gifted them a soft goal. Pepe was poor but Kuyt should no have been caught with the ball there. I also think Pepe could have done better with the second it went over his head.

Downing is a joke. We'd be better playing with 10 men allowing Enrique to have the whole left flank to himself. Downing offers nothing not a thing. Poor Maxi must be thinking Kenny hates him playing Downing ahead of him

Henderson I believe will be a good player for us but at present just isnt offering us enough.

Throw Lucas Stevie and Bellamy in for Downing Adam and Henderson from the start tonight and we might win that game with the posession we have.

Yeah, well dissapointed with that. Had plenty of possesion in the middle, lack of ideas going into the last third. Poor defending cost us all 3 goals. Will need to do better next time out. Scoreline flattered them. Don't think I remember them haveing more that 5 clear cut chances and scored 3, we just made them look good, although our chances were a bit thin on the ground. Best team in the prem so no shame in losing to them, It's just how we did it.

Ahh well. Most would say its the hardest game of the season, and their 100% home record shows that. At least we didn't get turned over like last season. Just shows we need a striker in the window, or at least some attacking quality. Adam Johnson maybe??

Not all doom and gloom, still just 3 points off 4th.

DOnt agree. Its not the strikers fault if their service is less than average....and that comes from the midfield.

Not as bad as some people think, we are toothless though, never looked like scoring in the second half, the movement was very poor, we have the foundation with the defence, we need top class attacking talent now

      Disappointed, gutted, deflated etc.

Reina 6 Bad mistake which really set the tone for the whole game
Enrique 6 Solid, had to work hard, but now and again he keeps making daft decisions going forward
Skrtel 7 Solid, unlucky with the pen
Agger 8 Very solid, my motm, world class defender
Johnson 6 He was alright in defence but his crossing in attack is shockingly bad

Adam 6 Huffed, puffed, mislaid passes, looked out of his depth to be honest
Henderson 7 Again, worked hard, and had a good game without standing out
Spearing 7 Usual hard working performance, if only he was creative as well in going forward
Downing 7 Started bad, finished strong, doesn't get in half as many crosses as I'd like
Kuyt 6, Usual industrious self, less creative than Spearing, not the player he was

Carroll 6, Lots of effort, starved of service, no back up in the box. Neverthless, he really needs to work on his second ball headers

Maxi 6, didn't really put his stamp on the match, not enough time
Gerrard 6, didn't really put a foot wrong, should have started
Bellers 6, one or two mazy runs but faded as the half progressed

Our crosses into the box just aren't good enough, and when they are, Carroll is surrounded by about 4 or 5 City defenders. Having said that, City I thought defended really well, and we didn't have any luck at all as every loose ball in the box ended up at the feet of a blue shirt. I would have started with Gerrard (31), Bellers (32) and Maxi (31), bad knees and fitness not withstanding.

      On a more positive note

We are still only 3 points of 4th place
      Suarez, 7 games to go
      KK will buy this January
A gift of a goal, bad defending for the corner, and a dodgy penalty - we gave them the win.

Can we stop F***ing about with Adam and Downing.

Neither of them deserve a start, Henderson looked pretty good, Agger our best player IMO.

We didnt outplay them today. For fooks sake, possesion is not necessarily dominance

Yes I think we did Quico - it just highlights where we're deficient. We aren't clinical in final third.

Now the unnecessary dropped points look far more costly than before.

I don't care how many chances we created but only a handful were proper clear cut chances. The others were probably some deflected shot, some lame pussy pass to goal or anything.

We really need to solve our problems in front of goal.

We didn't exactly out play them. Maybe marginally better but we didn't do what City did today - score goals.

The line-up looked more like we wanted to throw the match.

Really sick of this idea that Andy Carroll can be lead striker for Liverpool FC; he lacks the speed and the ball control to be effective.

What this says? We have Gerrard and Suarez, then add Bellamy and maybe Maxi. Outside of these, we really don't have much more in attack.

Our main striker was totally rubbished by the FA and all we could do was back down from the confrontation? Just like the Spearing red card, and then the stud to Spearing's ankle that was ignored.

The sooner we realise that we are the only ones that cares about us, the better. Sometimes soon, we have to start fighting these calls that are blatantly wrong! We can't continue to smile as we get screwed constantly.
