Just going to focus on the game itself, because at the moment we have no idea what was said and it's all speculation.

Don't think we played that great, even the last 10 mins when we bagged a few it seemed like Oldham just capitulated. However, I was pleased with how direct we were going forward, especially in the 2nd half, and we were constantly finding our way through.

Bellamy again superb and he's got to be nailed on the start, Stevie was involved in everything but you can see he's still working to 100%. Loved seeing Jonjo tonight, he's an intelligent player but he was careless at times. Delighted for Andy, what a finish that was it should do him the world of good and the same goes for Downing, both their goals were very well taken.

Only negative for me was Kuyt who was once again dreadful. Really think it's time we got rid, because he offers us nothing anymore.

All in all, a very good win and hopefully we'll begin to see a turn in our fortunes with regards to finishing chances after a big win like that.

Apologies for going off topic, got wound up.

Hopefully Downing can help fill the scoring void and Andys confidence has grown a bit, enough to fill his socks anyway.

KD: "Scoreline a bit flattering. Oldham did very well. Getting back as quick as we did was a great help.  Important for us to give some players a run out. Lots of positives, Downing scoring, big Andy scoring, Steven with a penalty."

Andy Carroll's goal was his first at Anfield this season, at the ninth attempt
It was Stewart Downing's first Liverpool goal since his move from Aston Villa
Jonjo Shelvey netted his maiden strike for the Reds

Didn't realise it was Jonjo's first goal for us.

Definitely knew it was Downing's. ;)

I think we did create some good chances tonight.

Bellamy is something else, and Maxi also heads straight for goal.

A good performance, admittedly against sub-standard opposition, but a good reaction to going behind.  Very pleased and our first 4th round of the FA Cup for 3 years.  Amazing stat that.

I think who ever we buy in the future we need players like Bellers and Maxi no fear just run at the opposition goal ,Downing and Kuyt  looking to play the ball back every time.Tonight i thought downing looked comfortable going forward and crossing.

I"m absolutely delighted that big Andy got on the score sheet, he deserves that in fairness and has tried very hard under tremendous pressure and it has come at the right time with Suarez out this will boost his confidence and the team surely will feel the benefit .

Decent little game that tonight, although didn't think much of their F***ing light show, bit of anti-climax in all honesty!

Obviously we all know now what's going to be the major talking point, which is a shame, because that was some F***ing goal by the big man.

And yes I'm going for someone else for motm because Bellamy did well down the right but for me Gerrard ran that show tonight and nicely topped off with a barnstormer of a pen.

Downing finally found his shooting boots, good finish by Shelvey but he just needs to sharpen up his passing.

The game clearly proves that Andy can score with his feet and why must it always be his head that we're aiming for? I'm extremely happy that he has started roaming outside and inside the box, no reason for him to remain static inside the box all the time waiting for crosses. He has scored goals against us and for us from outside of the box, need to pass to him more often to shoot. Looks like Downing has finally done some serious shooting practice.
