Cant believe he doesn't have a thread.

Anyway looks to me to be a super little player down the right wing. All the talk of Adjoran Suso and Sterling deserving a call to the first team I think this lad is top of the list. Great skill and pace but he has a final ball as well!!

He looks well up to the challenge physically. Looks like we have a gem here

Love the look of this lad. Silva should replace Kuyt on the bench, well either himself or Sterling. Squad needs to be shaken up a bit.

Good chance for him to shine, an immense talent and it'll be good to see how he plays in a tougher and more competitive environment.

My gripe here is Arsenal, utd would get there kids loaned to either premiership clubs or top championship we seem to loan ours out anywhere. Will he learn more there, probably learn about getting kicked thats all

Our worry is whether he will be good enough - after all he didnt make your League Cup XI last season :-)

Seriously, he wasnt on the pitch 2 minutes  (late sub) when he walked through the Wimbledon defence to set up the winning goal. He looked tricky after that but didnt feature too much more. For setting up a winning goal for a side that had won just seven league games in over a year (feels like a million years) he is already a hero. Hopefully he will start next week. Thanks Liverpool!

He was playing for our U18's last season.

Been a very good impact sub this year.
Slightly unorthodox, but a fabulous prospect.

Hope he shines for you lot and gets a loan deal to a Championship side next season.

Northampton Town sign Liverpool's Toni Silva on loan

Northampton Town have signed Liverpool winger Toni Silva on a one-month youth loan deal.

The 18-year-old made his debut for the Cobblers in the 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon , and helped create the winning goal.

Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd told BBC Radio Northampton :
"At a club like ours, we've got to get youngsters before anybody knows about them."

"We don't want to get excited too soon, but he's got Premier League quality."

      He added:
"He's dribbled past two or three people and he has got a great goalscoring record."

"We'll see if we can help bolster his career and he can [boost] us up the table."

The Portuguese youth international has been playing for the Reds' under-18 and reserve sides, and can play on either the left or right flank or up front.

He had an average game for us tonight, threatening to be good without actually quite pulling it off. We extended his loan until the end of the season today which I am more than happy about. I am confident in what I have seen that we have borrowed a talented kid.

Not much else to report tonight except we have won 2 games in a week with him in the side and given ourselves a chance of avoiding THE drop. Happy times after a nightmare 12 months.

Hopefully more to report on Silva on Saturday.

Why not come and have a look at him in first team action...

Sat 31st March Crewe v Cobblers

Jump on the slow line to Crewe and treat yourselves to a real football match - far removed to what you are all used to at Anfield. Ground is right by the station. We could do with a few extra supporters and you lot haven't got a game that day.

Poor yesterday unfortunately. Our whole team was especially bad in the 1st half but Silva contributed very little. He slid past his man once in the first half, when on the half way line, but then thought he could beat the rest of the team and was easily disposessed.

He was taken off after an hour which was an obvious decision to make and we looked far more likely to score after that.

Disappointing really - he looked like he might shine at this level but hasn't yet. I would be very surprised if he wasn't dropped to the bench next Saturday.

Now seen enough. I don't want to see him again. Far far too lightweight - not interested unless he has the ball at his feet, a luxury we can't afford I'm affraid. I now think taking him until the end of the season was a huge mistake.

We are in the middle of a massive relegation battle and we need people to put in a shift. He came on  for the last 20 mins tonight and when we made a substution with 5 mins to go I honestly expected that he was being taken off again.

I guess you will be surprised at my judgement and think he must be good enough for the bottom of the 4th division but I don't think he will be getting many minutes on the pitch here (he was an unused sub on Saturday too).

      No goals or assists.

Seen on some forums he would appear to have improved his workrate and willingness "To get stuck in"

Think the impact of being in the first team of a well supported team can have massive effects on, as racer said, a players workrate and willingness. You have something to play for, whether it be at the foot of League Two or in the glitz of the Premier League.

Hope once he gets his full confidence on the ball he not only aids his progress, but Northampton Towns season and can look back on his time there and feel he made a difference.

Well we are finally safe and your man played his part. However there aren't many Cobblers fans who rate him at all (me included). Very lightweight and rarely puts himself about enough. I would be staggered if he ever plays for Liverpool. I read on our forum that maybe he will be loaned out to a league 1 side next season. I honestly do not think he is good enough.

Good luck for the rest of your season.

Toni is still a very young player and has alot to learn. Tbh im not expecting him to play for Liverpool but i do believe he can go far in his career. Just look at Cameron Stewart at Hull City, He was on loan at Yeovil and didnt make an impression at all. Since then he has played for the England U21s. Some players just need a loan to the lower leagues to kickstart their career.

RIP Toni's mum. To loose her at that age is terrible for the lad

Shows a lot about the lad's character that he managed to play well despite the very sad news of his Mother's passing.

      RIP.

I have loads of time for this kid.

But he needs to be ironed out. His finishing needs a lot of work

Liverpool winger Toni Silva joins Barnsley

Barnsley have signed Liverpool winger Toni Silva on a free transfer.
The 18-year-old, who has agreed a two-year contract, spent time on loan with League Two side Northampton last season, scoring once in 15 appearances.
"He's young, enthusiastic and quick with and without the ball," Tykes boss Keith Hill told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"There's a lot of development that we're going to have to put into him to make him realise his potential but I believe we can do that."

Good luck to the lad hope he succeeds.

      Lock it up.

Very dissapointed we've sold him. Really feel we let one slip through our hands here.

      All the best Toni

Best of luck Toni Brito Silva.
Not sure what Rodolfo saw in him that meant he never really trusted him.
Talent there for sure but there must be something else to move him on like that.

Must admit I'm surprised to see him leave on a free. Best of luck Toni.
