To Carroll he needs all the praise he can get. Struggles with self confidence.

      [BBC NEWS

Mancini & Gerrard Row Over Tackle

Manchester City Boss Roberto Mancini was involved in an angry tunnel exchange with Liverpool
captain Steven Gerrard after his side's 1 - 0 Carling Cup semi-final defeat.
Mancini felt a Glen Johnson tackle on Joleen Lescott should have been punished for being two-
footed, claiming it was worse than the challenge that resulted in a red card for Vincent Kompany in
Sunday's FA Cup tie with Manchester United.
But Gerrard disagreed and made his feelings known to Mancini

Mancini should give his arse a chance - the Johnson tackle was perfectly legitimate, he went for the ball and made full contact with it it was then he came into contact with the player - does he forget it was televised and everything open to minute examination?
We could see what he could and no matter how many years he's been coaching blah blah blah, the proof is there to see.
The team selection, tactics and general gameplan are his brief and the home defeat last night brings his decision making into scrutiny, as has been the case for a number of recent games.
This particular game gave Mancini the chance to speak out and use LFC as a vehicle for that, being as they are involved in some very controversial claims of late.
His ploy however has been discovered by the fact that Man City were played off the pitch in the first half, they did muster to an extent in the second but were held comfortably, his talk of a sending off is comical and smacks of desperation.
He will be looking over his shoulder now with the outrageously wealthy owners wanting some reward for their trust - or blood.

Wonder if the FA will do anything about the laser pen in Gerrard's face as he was about to take the penalty.

Went for Skrts for MOTM because he handled Aguero when he could've scored a brace easy.

Loved the first half but hated the second half, I find defending for 45 minutes very hard to watch. Having said that it worked and sets us up for a nice final and Kennys first trophy.

It's hard to watch, you think that you have more chance of surviving by just playing Normal but oh well we survived.

Not seen the match yet but take it you must of played well beating City in their own back yard.  Were both teams at full strength?

      Well done.  :)

No, we didn't have Lucas or Suarez and Gerrard who isn't fully match fit yet.

Well Keith we obviously had no Lucas and lost Spearing to a hamstring injury.
Think that blew our tactics and we scrambled for a bit.
      Job done though.
Oh did you mean City players.
F**k them. Kompany and Silva were obviously missed.
Personally I think Mancini made the wrong call taking Johnson off.

As posted earlier mate it's down to Mancini, he can stand in the pissing rain all night and bullshit about red cards for evermore at the end of the day the team performance is the wieght he is paid to carry.

Is it just me or does Downing get slower with every match he takes part in? Rest of the team did very well, Kelly was excellent despite his big mistake, defense did its job, midfield was good but Carroll was again disappointing which is a shame.

There is a clip on the talksport website claiming to show Nasri getting the piss taken out of him by some Liverpool fans, it's quite funny but how they now they're reds is ridiculous.

      funny Samir Nasri abuse

Maybe my Liverpool red tinted glasses are redder than usual but with regard to Johnsons 2 footed "tackle", it wasn't a "tackle".  He intercepted the ball before it got to Nasri.  That's how I saw it anyway.

Anyway, great game, great tactics, great result.

As Stevie G said in his interview, we played ugly when it was needed.

Well, I felt that challenge was worst than Kompany's but Johnson didn't get any of Lescott at all, maybe a slight touch of the foot, if any.

Oops was it Lescott??  My mistake.  Either way I still don't think it reached him.

Were they showing laser/light at Gerrard before he took the kick?

Noticed this when watching the game back on TV.

What was that all about? Surprised nobody has said anything.

      Was it a green one?

If it was I think I saw it, but I didn't see it again during the buildup to the kick, so I thought I was imagining things.

Indeed 'debs. Lescott wasn't in possession of the ball ergo: It can't have been a "worse" tackle when it wasn't a tackle in the first instance.

Don't worry about the Rose tinted specs either; being a Red, like you, I have mine on all the time.  8)
