Thought this might be an idea, not sure if in the right place though? Basically if you have any memories or know of anything that happenned the current days date in Liverpool history it could be posted here.

      Found this..

On this day 1978 Kenny Dalglish bagged a hat trick against Wrexham in the league cup quarter final. However it seems that he game is better remembered as the day Phil Thompson introduced his perm to the world!!

If you know of anything thathappenned on todays date add it here  ;)

Today 7 years ago Liverpool were dumped out of the FA cup at round 3 by Burnley thanks to a crazy own goal from Djimi Traore. The original fixture was postponed due to an unplayable pitch and Liverpool were caught out on the refixed date!

Always remember Rafa getting stick for his team selection and Traore being lashed out of it, but both had a big finish to that season!!

Good idea for a thread, Brian.

      Remember this? Haha

(To the tune of 'Blame It On The Boogie' by The Jacksons)

Don't blame it on the Biscan,
Don't blame it on the Hamann,
Don't blame it on the Finnan,
      Blame it on Traore,
He just can't, He just can't, He just can't control his feet.

Again what is never mentioned is that had the game not been called off, we might have played a stronger team in the first game, he changed the side, because most of the senior side played in the League Cup semi against Watford.

Completely smashed at that Burnley game and even though we got beat, was one very funny night.

Of course! I always think it was the Friday night but I recall weather called the game off that night! Remember listening to this match on 5 Live (as ever!) and cringing at what Traore. I remember crouching down on the floor with my hands on my face. "Traore WHAT are you doing" I thought! To be fair he made up for it with this clearance in the final in 2005! Yeah I don't care that he gave away the free kick inside 30 seconds which Maldini scored from - he'll ALWAYS be a hero for what he did at 1.30 in this video!

Djimi Traore is a legend ... Saved us

edit: Actually....first time I've just realised....was that shot going out anyway? This is important to me. 6 and a half years of Djimi Traore LEGEND status put upon him by me is hanging on whether it was going in or out? Any opinions....please!

Beglin's career is all but ended as he is injured by Everton's Gary Stevens in the Littlewoods Cup quarter-final. We win 1-0.

      Back on topic ;)

      Double centurion Carra
2004 - Jamie Carragher made his comeback from a broken leg, playing his 200th League game as a late Kenny Miller strike denied us all three points at Wolverhampton Wanderers, after Bruno Cheyrou had put us ahead. This was our 200th League match since Gérard Houllier took sole charge, which had been rearranged after a flooded pitch before Christmas.

      A first double
1899 - We beat Everton 2-0 at Anfield to complete the first ever League double in this fixture. John Walker and Tom Robertson netted our goals.
      Brucie's back
1989 - Bruce Grobbelaar returned to the side after recovering from meningitis, with lookey-likey strike pairing John Aldridge and Ian Rush netting in a 2-0 defeat of Southampton at Anfield.
1967 - We also beat the Saints at home, with Chris Lawler and Alf Arrowsmith on target in a 2-1 victory.

      Twice against the Tractor Boys
We have twice entertained Ipswich Town on this day in history.
1961 - We were held to a 1-1 draw in a Second Division meeting, when winger Kevin Lewis netted.
1986 - Paul Walsh, Ronnie Whelan and Ian Rush struck as we won 3-0 in our Fifth Round League Cup tie. We were then knocked out by Queens Park Rangers in the Semi-final.
