Yes Luis! Great day. Great match. I remember feeling rather down after moving from house I grew up in three days earlier. Didn't feel down after this match thanks to our men in red! Not the first time and certainly won't be the last time our lads will bring sunshine into our lives.

At this time on this day 12 years ago I was feeling pretty dejected. End of the first half, 3-0 down. Sheesh!

At this time on this day 12 years ago - Lost my voice, trying to knock back some bevvies in some tent opposite the airport in Istanbul and just felt thoroughly drained emotion wise, plus trying to sing YNWA & Ring Of Fire every F***ing ten minutes cos some DJ in there kept playing it.

Still the best time of my life!!

12 yrs, F**k sake when you say it it feels like only a few yrs ago,  my lad was only 5 months old, he's 18 in December if you know what I mean,
That night, that unforgettable night I was at a mates gaff, totally demoralised at half time, but, I said it's not over, even tho I'm thinking sh*t this could get embarrassing, Tut tut, what do I know eh!

My mate, he's dead now,  bless him, w**ker supported Blackburn Fookin Rovers, so plenty of laughs shared.

      RIP Neathy miss ya bud!

As most nights during that European run, I was working that evening. Before half time, the Arsenal fan commentator on the local tv network, was boasting to his viewers that we won't need to go to UEFA looking to play in the competition next season.

That was not a major concern for me at ht though. I remembered the last time we were 3 down at half time in Basle, and how we still managed to scrape a draw out of it. But scoring 3 there was one thing, scoring 3 against an Italian defence now looked an impossible job, and the blame game had started. Just before work restarted, news came through that we got them, and we could now finish the job. We usually win our penalty shoot outs though, so I wasn't worried about another one. Although it had just ended by the time the next break arrived, we had won, and suddenly gobs***e Gaillard had a problem on his hands. One that was resolved when we went to UEFA where Johansson overruled him and put us back in the European Cup 6 weeks later.

On this week in 1977, we won the first European Cup. But even that's too long ago for me.

It is so sad that  one of our greatest goalscorers in the clubs history drew so little response from Liverpool supporters.Roger was as close as you could get to being a local lad as well.

Not true, he got a lot of respect when he was playing and when he retired. A legend for Liverpool and England. Only a select few ever consistently get mentioned, however many of those who were alive when he was in his prime have sadly passed on and cannot echo the legend of the man like we do today with Gerrard and Dalglish. In 40 years time, the same could well be said the same of Gerrard. Maybe never mentioned like he is today.

However make no mistake, Roger Hunt is a Legend for Liverpool, and very much respected.

      1994:

      Liverpool 3-3 mancs

The first home game against them with the new dugouts, the last home game against them in front of a standing Kop, and one of the top 10 of all time.

A lot has happened at the club in the years since. Hopefully the next 25 years, will be more successful.

That era of 2006-2009/10 was Stevie at his absolute peak, and what a joy it was to see him do it. Once in a lifetime player.

      Stoke City 6, Liverpool 1.

      Let that sink in.
