Zamora ? Graham? F.F.S I'd rather have Defoe ahead of those two put together.  Is the second half of his forum name an anagram of 'retard' or did I missread it ?

It is. Hence "Dalglish Retard 12." The 12 meaning the number of BPL titles they've won, I think.

Terdar being my family name- half Indian. Dalglish, because he is a legend. And 12 because its 2012? Conspiracy theorists much?

Realistically this transfer will not occur, just like the David Villa rumor years ago as to David Silva. Think we need to start looking at rising talent and to try snap them up before other clubs do.

Agreed. Add Aguero, of last year, to that list, too. If the apparent transfer kitty of £30m (which excludes funds raised by sales) is to believed, it's extremely unlikely we will attempt to sign Cavani as I'd expect him to cost upwards of £30m.

We are such a great club but at the moment despite what people say to the modern day footballer whom are looking to be the best in their position we are just not as appealing as City, Madrid, Barcelona, dare i say it even Chelsea.

We need to be realistic with our targets and hopefully those who are brought in will be able to help us get back to the top of football, so the likes of Cavani, Aguero, Silva will rue the day they didn't join us.

You don't necessarily need to buy the likes of Cavani, Hazard, Aguero etc. to be successful (although, obviously, it helps). A great team who work well in a certain system is superior to great individuals who don't work well in a team. If we sign the right players who fit Brendan Rodgers' system, then we can be successful next season, or at least make a good deal of progress.

To be fair, people were saying that we were dreaming about Suarez. Just want to add a bit of balance.

we can sell the club to anyone we want fellas. the hazards of the world who's agents conduct the whole charade through the media are not for us. that is not dignified business, that is not the way we have ever gone about it. if there is a big name player we want i am supremely confident we have the money and we can get him here.

since we have big andy i don't think this guy will be on our radar anyway

As much as i like Carroll, i really think that as a finisher he will hardly ever be in the league of Cavani. Cavani has just that natural instinct and composure to finish in a calm, simple-looking way what most strikers won't put in. I think 30m for Cavani is not too much money, I rate him very highly.

If we had infinite funds and the ruthless (or careless) attitude of Man City, I'd say buy him. However, we already bought Carroll, who I feel has still a lot to show for the team, and our money better be spent in some other areas of the team where it's most needed, like a DM and a winger.

Has there actually been a credible source that we are in for or interested in Cavani?

I havne't seen us linked to him by any credible media outlets.

I think Suarez when we signed him weren't in the same league as Villa, Silva & Aguero but it can be argued he is now.

Mata, Aguero, Hazard, Villa, Silva, I was really dissapointed when I saw these players sign for our rivals. I see loads of interest on the forum in these players but was there any evidence that  the club were oficially interested in them. By that did we actually put offers in for them, for them to choose to go elsewhere, or is that just hype. The only player I thought we were in for who we lost out on, was the fella who went to the arse, can't even remember his name now, but he turned out to be a bit of a flop anyway. I read the posts on here, and begin to believe the club are in for some of these stars, now I just wait for the arrival at Anfield to avoid the false hopes.  Still think Cavani is worth a punt, and Luk de Jong.   ;D

I can't think of many less likely transfers to be honest.

Rooney for £5m and Ferguson as kitman is about as likely.

More chance of me being 1 of Brendans first signings frankly.
      What planet are people on?
Why would Europe's best striker sign for a team not playing in the Champions League it
just does not happen, that's why Europe's previous best striker left!!! Along with Europe's best
      holding midfielder.
We need to follow the example of Montpellier in france as shown above.
That's proof that you can actually do it the non city/chelsea way & for me it's amazing to see it.
Well done Montpellier you are a beacon to all..

I think it is plausible, but I don't want it to happen, if we're not getting some Chelsea-esque budget. I'd prefer to put my eggs in the basket of 2-4 summer signings, rather than just this one.

It happens, but its not that common. In percentage,i think you are going to start seeing the same teams at the CL finals over and over again. Untill the money shifts places again....and again....and again.
