Cliftonville v Linfield (Sky Sports 1 7.45pm)

Just wanted to see how many people will be watching the first ever televised carnegie irish premier league match which Ireland's oldest football club, Cliftonville FC will be hosting at Solitude tonight.  This is a big event for irish football which can now show the world how entertaining it can be as the biggest rivalry unfolds between Cliftonville and Linfield as they battle out the first game of the 07/08 season shortly after Cliftonville beat Linfield 2-0 in the County Antrim Shield. 

Take it sky trying to win some viewers from Sultana then 

Doubt I'll have the chance to watch it, rest of the family wanting to watch soaps, my tv viewing starts at 10 on sky 1

I will be watching the match tonight. it should be a good match but think Linfield will win 3-1

No way m8 the reds will do them 1-0 I think. We're gonna win the league this season shouldve won it last year just had some disappointing results agianst the lower sides.  Can't wait for kick-off though hope the lads dont let irish football down.

it will be a tight game. Look out for peter tompson for linfield

With a name like that I hope he's a good'un - apparently so my dad tells me Peter Thompson from Shankly's team was an excellent winger.

there was a former Liverpool reserve player David Larmour was playing with Linfield is he still with them?

im not sure Brian although I do think I seen him playing for Lisburn Distillery against us in the County Antrim Shield final last year.  Sorry about not replying before the game huyton I had to leave early to get over, but as youve probably seen our left back, Ronan Scanell, man of the match is in my opinion the best player in the league.

Yeah they're Irish, Cliftonville are my local team, I live about a 10 min walk away from their home ground Solitude.  Was a great match tbh good that the players performed in front of the cameras to show the world that Irish league football is not as mediocre as some people may think.
