A - Do they have inside info or is it a stab in the dark?

B - None whatsoever. Had a good 2 months with Wigan. Incredible in my opinion that him, Rodgers and Lambert are being touted to replace the King.

Should be in the general football thread? (If only to stop people entertaining the idea of it).

I like Martinez as a man.

To compare him to Dalglish as a football manager however is frankly laughable.

I hope this is a bad wind up.  Although seeing as Werner and Henry appear to know F**k all about football, and there is no-one left at Anfield to talk any football sense with them, then who knows what they are going to do?

That's a very polite way of saying it would be absolutely unflipping believable.

Martinez or Dalglish? Go figure......no disrespect to martinez though.

West Brom or Villa would suit him not us, too much pressure way too much.

Absolutely with JD on this one, Martinez is a nice fella and I wish him all the best but seriously this is LFC and you're replacing a legend, sorry Roberto but you don't quite measure on this one.

Frankly whoever comes in is going to have an enormous task on their hands, because they're some massive footprints to follow in and it's clear FSG want instant success or mind the door doesn't hit you on the way out, might as well install a revolving door at the manager's office for the next few years.

We'll be seeing Jordi Gomez and Franco di Santo here then!!

I have to admit, I'm at a complete loss at to why this man is being remotely linked to the managers job at a club like liverpool.......I really hope its a wind-up..... Rafa the only option for me.

We love our spaniards but are they not getting Martinez mixed up with Benitez, quite easily done as they sound the same.

Potentially a good manager but done F**k all to prove he's up to the task of managing Liverpool. He's simply flavour of the month and a media darling.

Because hes flavour of the month.

Does no-one remember being linked with Owen Coyle last year? Where is he again? Oh.. Wigan had 8 consecutive defeats in the league this season & pulled it out the bag in the last two months. Most of the Wigan fans i know were screaming for his head before they went on their late run.

Sacking Dalglish and hiring a man whos only accomplishments on his CV are avoiding relegation is not a step forward.

Martinez is an admirable manager, he created Swansea's foundation and instilled the philosophy that has got them where they are today. Many people including myself, appreciate the way he has attempted to transform Wigan, battling relegation with a limited side with a poor fan base whilst trying to emulate that same entertaining, fluid football that made him famous as a manager.

I think he deserves to step up from Wigan eventually and I do believe he is too good for a club of their stature however I can't help but feel we need an enormous personality who is capable of handling the pressure, of an under-performing side with massive expectations and fans that will be heavily skeptical of the next appointment.

I like Martinez as a man and as a manager, many people aren't giving him enough credit already but I feel the board are offering a poison chalice in managing this club at the moment, I'd support him if he came here, seems likely he will, but I cant help but feel incredibly nervous with him in charge.
