Damned if they did, damned if they left him. So in the end does it really matter. 

As far as them making a mistake in hiring him in the first place, don't know how you can control people on something like this. The guy worked for a huge organization previously and had the credentials to do the job.

That seems to be the situation

I personally think the mistake was appointing a 'soccer' person rather than a 'Football ' person.
It seems he's gone because his family suffered a tragedy in the New York hurricane disaster. If that's right , I am truly sorry for him and his family and I wish him well for the future.
I still think it was the wrong appointment .
