Clint Dempsey (Fulham FC)

I don't believe that they won't sell him for the right offer. Isn't his contract up at the end of next season? Bet they'd like to get something for him as opposed to him leaving on a free?

I think he would fit in quite well with our squad. Very versatile, very tough, a bit of an brash attitude (in a good way) and is "Premier League Proven"

Fulham manager Martin Jol has told all concerned that star man Clint ­Dempsey is not for sale.

The American has scored an ­impressive 23 goals this season from the left of Fulham’s midfield and is ­believed to be a target for Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as a host of other ­European clubs.

Dempsey will miss today’s clash with Tottenham with a groin complaint but his boss is ­adamant that ­Fulham fans have not seen the last of the 29-year-old.

Jol made it very clear: “Clint will not go because if he does, then I will need 20 goals and that is not easy to find.

“That is what I told Clint and all the other people around him, so, hopefully, we can keep him.

“It is in our own hands, there have been no bids and even if there were, I don’t think we would sell.

“It is hypothetical, there have been no bids for Clint over the last couple of years – not one bid.”

As long as the "right price" doesn't involve us being ripped off.

Not a big fan, nor an advocate of the transfer, also don't believe he will be brought in. However having said all that I could understand if he was brought in as an option and to improve the squad.

We'd do a good job signing him without a manager.

He's miles better than Stewart Downing. And might not cost as much. Not to mention he could play midfield, wing or striker. I actually think he'd make a nice addition to the squad.

Good point...but unless you are signing Ronaldo or Messi you can pretty much always "do better".

I think a lot has to do with defining the type of player and the price range you can afford and then determining who fits. I hear what you are saying though. For me if you could get him for 15 or less I think he'd be an excellent pickup. More than that we could probably do better spending elsewhere.

seems people are getting carried away about 1 good season. fair enough, but I don't think he's good enough.

I think he's a good player who could help us, but I'd guess Fulham will charge way too much for him at his age. If we could get him for 8-10M I'd go for him but I doubt that will be the price.

Hes actually had a couple of good seasons, always scores more than 10 goals, last year was his best season. He is very consistent and always looking to get into the box, something we lacked last season, either through effort or tactical plans. He is different to Downing in that respect.

In my opinion Dempsey is nailed on to sign for us or agree to sign, (probably before we get a new manager). Given that any new manager will have to agree to work within the new FSG structures then if "The Club" FSG want Dempsey so will the new boss. 

few of the fulham fans I know rate him highly and expect him to be poached this summer. hopefully not us.

It's too late to go for Dempsey. Should have gone for him in Jan. 2011 or the summer window last year. Despite having 1 year left on his contract, he's going to have a high price in the summer. Good player, versatile, would take him over Downing in a heartbeat, but it's too late now.

if FSG ant to move the club forward then i would be fuming if they sighned dempsey, yeh decent player for fulham and we might get a year out of him but if big andy keeps performing i want a quick pacy poacher
