      Victor Wanyama (Celtic)

Fresh face we're being linked with.  Don't know much about the lad except he's a DM/CB.  Certainly ticks all the boxes for an FSG-type signing, so to speak.  Does anyone know more about this player and can provide some feedback?

Back up for Lucas I would guess, but is he any better than Spearing? I'd prefer Diame to come in for free.

My wife is a season ticket holder at Parkhead and my boys use their cousins tickets most weeks (brother in law has bought them now to get the seats though his kids are too young and not intersted).

My boys rave about Wanyama and Celtic fans are resigned to losing him - bluntly they acknowledge he can do better.

I think he will be a player and better than Spearing.

      I like the boy

See I watch Scottish football all the time and have never seen anything that would justify him in our squad

Not arsed where he's from or who he's playing for. Never taken any notice of Celtic or the SPL. Don't know therefore if he's good enough or not. Very tenuous link I think anyway.

Looks quite good for Celtic but not anywhere near the quality we're looking for.

EDIT: Just googled him, I didn't realise he was so young. There may actually be time for him to develop after all. Wouldn't be jumping for joy but he is pretty decent. Can play centre back too if really, really neeeded.

Spearing started out as a Center back originally.

Victor certainly looks promising. And a lot of clubs are interested.

A follow up to the earlier post. Youtube videos, old match reports and rival forums suggest this.

Primarily uses his body strength to ram sideways into the opposition player and wins the ball. Looks for a short pass after winning the ball rather than holding it for a better pass. Has a good pace. And can shoot. Only 20. And although the player claims he is happy at Celtic, his agent says that a fee close to 7m pounds should set things right.

And if rumours are true, Newcastle, Stoke and QPR are also interested in the player. Scouted by Newcastle. What more do we want?

I agree with the quality of the link - I've seen enough to believe he'll be a player, others haven't - fair enough that.
