Estadio Deportivo claim Liverpool's interest in Cristian Tello is turning concrete & have been told £7m will land the 20 year old.

exciting prospect we cant miss him ...7 mil should be great business for such kind of  talent..

Now this is the type of player we should be looking at. Young and tallented that can be brought on be someone like Rodgers for the future. Lets get shot of the Coles and Aqualani,s in the club and start looking at this type of player.

I agree Brian,don't hang around and give another club the chance to up the ante.

Still have doubts that Barca would let him go, fantastic talent.

I don't think he would start. Would be more effective off the bench IMO because at this moment in time he doesn't have consistency to his game.

I have said in another thread that I am surprised Barca would let him go that cheap. They rarely let players who have come through their structure to their first team, go on the cheap. Even Bojan, who they sold to Roma, went for something like £14m despite Barca looking like they were keen to sell.

Just read that he was put of contract at end of next season. That would appear to justify his low few.

The deal with Bojan was I believe £10m, BUT, Barca has the option of buying the player back after 2 years for the same amount ( hope thats correct, if not, it was quite similar ).
So, with the price at £7m, I'd be careful if it involved the same type of agreement.

£7m for a player with his ability, could be a steal, but we have before been linked with players with great ability for cheapish money, only for us to pass the option on and give other clubs the benefits of there talents. :-
Christian Rondildo, Japp Stam, Sergio Aguero to name a few.

Lets hope the club do there homework on the player, and if he ticks the boxes of what they want, then please splash the cash on the lad.

I haven't seen a lot of Tello so I can't really comment but of the comments I've seen is this:

"Tello runs towards the box from left wing , then does an outside dodge and shoots. That is all he does again and again throughout the match, without passing the ball ever. He has great speed but needs to learn a lot before being considered the future."

Does this ring true for anybody?

No worse than Downing 9/10 times when he is on the right wing he cuts inside and gets mobbed, 9/10 times on the left wing he passes back to Enrique.

Tello will be a good signing.

Haven't seen enough of him to be an authority but I have seen him come on as a sub in a few of the Barca games I've seen. Looks to be a very crafty young fellow and remembering he would seem to have a bright future ahead of him. For 7m I think it would be a no brainer. As far as Barca letting him go...at this point they will be looking to recoup something because if they wait till his contract is up he will go elsewhere. As good as he may be can't see him getting consistent playing time at Barca in the next year or so.
