      Demba Ba (Newcastle)

Contract clause allows the Senegal striker to leave Newcastle for way below his true value if the deal is done by the end of July

Brendan Rodgers is considering a move for £7million hitman Demba Ba.

The Newcastle striker is available at that knockdown price until July 31 because of a clause in his contract.

After that date, clubs would have to pay the 27-year-old's full market value.

Ba hit 15 goals last season, before heading off on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal.

His scoring touch dried up when he returned, although he was pushed out to a wide position to accommodate the January signing of his international team-mate Papiss Cisse.

Rodgers is likely to face competition for Ba's signature, with Tottenham also interested.

I love that line at the end of course Spurs are interested  :f_doh:

Hmmmmmmmm. Not convinced about Demba. £7M is a decent price for a gamble though, after all he was chucked out to the left to accommodate Papis Cisse when he went off the boil. Doesn't he have dodgy legs as well though?

I thought the £7m price tag only applied to teams in the Champions League.

There is no problem with the transfer fee but if we did sign him I would hope the club would not let him have a release clause in the contract. If he had another release clause he would probably be on his way this time next year and that's not good for L.F.C.

No doubt he would come to us and both his knees will explode that's why. He has bad knees and a season injury is waiting that is the main reason he is valued so low.
He reminds me of Kyle from South park.
Any south park fans will know what im talking about.

I was wondering why SM said no no no but as his official spokesman I'll take your response as his. :P

Isn't that what medicals are for? Any player can have a season ending injury at any time so to assess him first would only be prudent. Newcastle took a chance and that didn't turn out too bad.

I agree with you and if our medical team do their job properly we should not sign any crocks who are not fit. There is no place for another Harry Kewell.

I know what you mean mate but the juncture we're at we have to put our faith in the new manager and his staff. We either do that or we bi*ch and moan till they prove us wrong, personally I think we have to have faith that they'll make the right decisions because they're not here to fail are they?

Nope, not for me. He may have been in good form but that was only for half the season, when they signed Cisse he proved that he is no better than just the average striker who was in a good run of form.

No when they signed Cisse Ba was pushed out to the left wing and barely got any chances.
