Great 100M final and Bolt delivered when it mattered.

Just a pity Asafa had to pull up as it would have been the first time all runners went below 10 Seconds.

      Fantastic weekend of Athletics.

The 200m should be closer with Blake in form.

Cant see why Gatlin is so hated. He done his time, made mistakes and has been clean for years, qualified and won a medal by right so fair play to him.

Bring on the relays as well....USA/Jamaica will be very close...also fancy GB to be up there if we can get the bloody baton round this time.

Our best chance at a gold medal Makhloufi has been thrown out of the Olympics, and for what? Not trying hard enough in his 800m heat.

Bullshit, he shouldn't of had to race it in the first place.

That's so harsh on the lad, BBC said the team failed to withdraw him from the 800m by Sunday's deadline.

I am so annoyed with the team, if they couldn't take him out advise him to finish the race at least!

I have a feeling he will be able to get an doctors certificate which apparently will allow him to compete in the final.

I hope so, for any athlete to be chucked out for something that is not their fault must be heartbreaking.

And from a fans point of view, as he is one of the favourites it would be good to see as competitive a race as possible.

Anyone see Beth Tweddle on the double bars? How the hell does she do that?
Got bronze because apparently the step back she took went against her??
Absolute bollocks the girl was incredible.

She was brilliant stuey!  Her routine was so complex.  That step cost her but how she managed to stay on her field I'll never know, if she'd gone over that would have been a disaster.  So pleased for her to get a medal, she's done so much for British gymnastics over the years.

Aww, really feel for Holly Bleasdale who has just gone out of the women's pole vault final.  She looks devastated.  :(

At least you got there Holly!  Great experience for a young athlete.

A bit of drama in the women's 400m hurdles semi finals, Perri Shakes-Drayton was looking as though she had missed out on the final after a not-so-good run in her semi left her as the 2nd faster loser with one semi to go.  But Denisa Rosolova of Czech Republic who finished third in the third semi in a quicker time than Perri has been DQ.  Not sure why, maybe she ran out of her lane ???

So Perri is currently through to the final!  Let's wait and she if there is a protest though.

Come on Dai!  Oh he's miles down at 250m, come on Dai!  Ooooh, 4th/5th on the line.  Sanchez takes the gold, that's for sure.

There was indeed a protest and the athlete was reinstated.

      Unlucky Perri.

He looked very impressive, especially given his young age. Michael Johnson suggested that this kid could beat his world record.

That's Grenada's first ever gold medal at the Olympics.  :gt-happyup:

      Well done to him.

He was chuffed to bits in his interview afterwards. His medal takes us to 48, one more than in Beijing 2008.

I was very impressed with Allyson Felix in the 200M. She made it look effortless and coasted to the line in a quick time, and she was very humble in her interview afterwards. She must surely be the favourite to win the gold.

This should be a great race!  The beeb's pre-race build-up:

      1830:
       ONE TO WATCH - ATHLETICS
But perhaps the most intriguing race of all will be the women's 200m (21:00 BST) which features three Olympic champions across three different distances. Veronica Campbell-Brown is the defending champion, but she'll face big competition from fellow Jamaican Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce, who defended her 100m title on Saturday, and Sanya Richards-Ross who won gold in the 400m. Throw American Allyson Felix, twice an Olympic silver medallist and three-time world champion over the distance, into the mix and this is shaping up to be an absolute humdinger...

      Looking forward to this!
