Gatlin wins the first semi final in 9.82, Asafa Powell edged out by Martina of Netherlands to third in a time of 9.94.  GB's James Dasaolu came 7th.

Second semi, Usain Bolt!!  9.87 while slowing down!  That looked like a man in shape!  USA's Ryan Bailey was second.  Dwain Chambers doesn't make the final.

Third semi, Blake wins in 9.85 but pushed that, Gay was second and third was Adam Gemili in 10.06.  Unlucky Adam, just misses out on the final by 0.04 seconds.  Great prospect and great experience for him.

Should be a great final!

Just watched his 100  final win at the last Olympics in Beijing. Comfortable is an understatement and whilst breaking the then world record. Started celebrating at about 60 metres.

That girl puts in such a good last 100m!  She was well down coming off the bend.  Well in and congrats to Richards Ross of USA for the gold.

I'll always remember watching the 100m final in Beijing. We all knew Bolt would win it. When he stuck out his arms and (almost literally) strode across the finishing line we thought "job done" and then you looked at the time! The fact he went and did it again the next year in the world championships in Berlin was just as astounding, if not more so.

Much has been made about this track. It is fast. Could we see something special tonight?! I wouldn't be surprised!

Fantastic win by Bolt which was never in any doubt. Shame that Gatlin got a medal.

And well done to Christine. If only there had been a few more metres to go then she might have got the gold.
