Former Liverpool FC player Sebastian Leto in intensive care after freak accident
Former Liverpool FC player Sebastian Leto has fractured his skull in a freak gym accident.

The Argentinian winger was training when a barbell is believed to have fallen on his head.

Leto is on loan from current Italian club Catania at Lanus in Argentina and was originally sent home by the club.

But after complaining of a headache he was sent to hospital where the fractured skull was diagnosed.

The 28-year-old is in intensive care and will require an operation within 48 hours.

Reports in Argentina today suggest his life is not in danger but his recovery will take four to six months.

Leto was signed for Liverpool by Rafa Benitez for £1.8m in 2007 and made four competitive appearances - before departing for Olympiacos on loan the following year after problems securing a work permit.

He completed a permanent move for around £3m to Panathinaikos in 2009 where he scored the winner in the Greek Cup final in 2010.
