Joe Cole was the WORST piece of business the club has ever done, never has fit in, massively over rated, and the last remaining piece of the disasterous H&G era as he is all to happy to pick up his £130k per week doing very little.....

So dont talk about loyalty - He is a joke - end of matter.

I think you'll find you're wrong there sir.

The worst piece of business this Club ever did was signing that Aquilani fella.

Business yes, but as a player, I still think that was Jimmy Carter.

Surely Downing has to be close to the worst business we ever done.

Downing is definitely up there. At least Aquilani got us exited for a few months in Rafa last season when he looked like a half decent player.

Poulsen and Konchesky and his mother for me were the worst!  At least Aqua and Downing actually have ability.  Poulsen was shyte and well the other and his mum well they both know what they can do!!

      Quote from DanMann
While the point is relevant, I should just point out that Vidic pulled down one of Everton's players tonight (forget the name!) by grabbing his shirt just as he was running toward goal... no yellow card.

Lucas picked up a yellow for the slightest pull of the shirt in the middle of the pitch.

One example of many. It's not about "textbook" decisions. As I said before, the textbook does not operate in most games. To apply the textbook against Liverpool players more than other teams is what makes it unfair.

I'll say it again - for last time :) - Phil Dowd was textbook correct... but he was exceptionally harsh, and bias in his decisions. He's set his own standard now. Will he continue to officiate in this manner? I doubt.

He set his standard in the derby in 2006, when he handed out 13 yellow cards and 2 reds, with Steve getting two yellows in 18 minutes.

He can be a pain in the arse for everybody he refs, but he got the main decisions right this weekend. Bringing up incidents that other refs let go, doesn't make the decisions given in our game wrong.

Bit harsh! He was a free transfer for a start wasnt he?
And its not like he's doing a Tevez and refusing to play or anything. And no player is going to refuse to take their wages cos they're not getting picked.
And he went out on loan last season to get football when he could've just sat in the stands picking up his wages.

Kenny keeps getting stick for last years purchases but who was it that did the deals and agreed fees and wages?.
It had to be Comoli and Ayres.

Don't think Ian Ayre was doing the negotiations last year. He is handling them this year though.

Kenny still wanted Downing, and even if he didn't cost £20 million, he'd still be the wrong player to buy due to his lack of effort and weak mentality. A bit of hindsight though.

Back on the subject of the game, although the scoreline looks like we got hammered it simply wasn't true.

We had some decent spells of football and creating some good pressure, the problem was once Agger was sent off(wrongly or rightly is irrelevant) then the teams set-up wasn't the same, the players had to run that little bit further and in the end with it being the first game of the season they eventually ran out of steam.

Am i dissapointed by the result? of course... am i still optimistic for this season? definitely
