      Sterling starts, no Carroll

The Reds team in full is: Reina, Robinson, Carragher, Agger, Kelly, Henderson, Spearing, Adam, Shelvey, Sterling, Borini. Subs: Jones, Coates, Downing, Lucas, Allen, Flanagan, Morgan.

surely not Shelvey on the wing again? maybe diamond four four two?

Shelvey played one of the front three while he was at Blackpool if I recall correctly.

Shelvey played as an attacking mid at Blackpool I thought.

Hope Lucas is rested. We don't want to lose him again by playing him too much. He's only just come back from a very serious injury

      No idea.
Last I read was that his hamstring would be assessed today.

If he doesn't make it, we get a chance to see what Borini can do in the centre.
Hopefully we play well and take a big step towards the group stages.

Ah!  Saw the line up and thought "Andy not even on the bench?!"  This explains it.

And Adam Morgan makes the bench!  Well in lad!

Interesting look to the side tonight.... I think this basically shows that Rodgers is resting (Johno, Skrtel, Coates, Enrique, Lucas, Allen, Gerrard, Suarez, and Downing) for the weekend clash against City.

Hopefully everyone who has been crying out every single game for a Sterling start won't completely slam him if Sterling does'nt light up the game.  Looking at the team Morgan could well get a run out in Europe for the Redmen, great achievement if he does. Come on boys lets put on a show.

Team to face Hearts in our UEFA Europa League qualifier first leg: Reina, Robinson, Carragher, Agger, Kelly, Henderson, Spearing, Adam, Shelvey, Sterling, Borini. Subs: Jones, Coates, Downing, Lucas, Allen, Flanagan, Morgan.  It's a pretty strong starting line up so hopefully goals will flow & also it will be good for the players match fitness as well. Andy Carroll wasn't fit enough that's why he's not in the squad i guess...

Would be nice to win here and win handsomely, but as long as we are still in the tie when we take them to Anfield we should progress, which is what we are here to do.

An away goal would be nice.

Radio City and Radio Merseyside should both have it.

But sometimes the footie commentary isn't online - definitely the Premier League ones.

      Agreed.

Not convinced on Shelvey out wide but apart from that some smart rotation to hopefully keep us in the tie and keep the main players fresh for Sunday.

Assaidi has already played for his former club, think he will be available for the next leg.

Finish work in an hour and a half so missing quit a bit.

Hopefully come back to a nice scoreline.

Love that we're seeing the kids starting and getting a role on the bench. Bodes well.
