That could have would worked too, given that Enrique and Johnson bomb forward a lot and serve as the de facto wingers.

Don't see why we don't use it now.

We have no wingers and Coutinho on the ball more is a good thing. Replace Hendo with Sahin of course.

Maybe next season when Coutinho has more fitness (although by then I hope we have quality wingers available).

Was at the Hawthorns earlier this season for the cup game and Sahin was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch.

Shame it didnt work out..wish the lad all the best.

I find it wasted that a quality player like Sahin didn't make it at our club although Sahin is struggling himself at his parent club Real Madrid. Sahin wants to play only in his position where he believes he can only perform. Perhaps Brendan doesn't like that in a player. 

Just imagine what might have been had we loaned Sahin, played him in his proper position, didn't spend the £15M on Allen and bought Sturridge instead in the summer.

Then probably nobody will know how to play tiki-taka football at the start of the season. Think Brendan somewhat brought Allen over to help in explaining Brendan's ideas in the playing field.

Not really getting the Allen stuff at the moment. I understand the 15m payment and all, but don't forget he filled in for Lucas at DM and did a job there. Not great, mind you, but probably better than anyone else in the squad could have done (besides Gerrard, probably).

Yes. Sahin needs a DM as a partner. Don't think he'd have done better than Allen if he was playing the DM role.

Sahin isn't a defensive midfielder. Not how he plays at Dortmund either, they have players like Kehl and Bender doing the work, and use Sahin as the playmaking CM. He'd drown just like Allen did in that position.

The closest thing we ever saw to it was when we played Sahin and Henderson in midfield. Neither were deployed as a DM, but together they were a fairly balanced midfield.
