Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has written to Sir Bob Kerslake Chair of the Honours Committee calling for the Honours of Sir Irvine Patnick and Sir Norman Battison to be revoked and also started an e-petition calling for the two said persons to have their Knighthoods revoked.I like so many others have signed this e-petition and would be most greatful if you all would do the same.

We the undersigned support the actions of the Mayor of Liverpool requesting that Sir Irvine Patnick be stripped of his knighthood.
In the light of the findings of the Hillsborough Independent Panel requests that the Honours Forfeiture Committee should make a recommendation to the Prime Minister that Sir Irvine Patnick, former MP for Sheffield Hallam, be stripped of his knighthood for his role in the Hillsborough disaster cover up.

The Hillsborough Independent Panel has confirmed that the former MP was one of the sources of information which contributed to a vile and despicable smear campaign, as part of a deliberate attempt to deflect blame from the police for their appalling handling of the Hillsborough disaster onto the fans. These actions resulted in totally innocent people, including the 96 deceased and their families, the survivors and the people of Liverpool, being unjustly vilified, stigmatised and tarnished for 23 years.

The former MP’s actions have brought the honours system into disrepute and it should be removed as a matter of urgency.

Removal of Sir Norman Bettison's Knighthood and QPM

We the undersigned support the actions of the Mayor of Liverpool requesting that Sir Norman Bettison QPM be stripped of his knighthood and QPM.
Requesting that the Honours Forfeiture Committee should make a recommendation to the Prime Minister that Sir Norman Bettison be stripped of his knighthood and QPM following his statement that seeks to defend his actions in the Hillsborough disaster and his comments ‘that fans’ behaviour made the job of the police harder.’

His statement shows he continues to show no remorse for his actions and that at a time when many of those in positions of authority are apologising for their roles in what the Prime Minister called the ‘double injustice’ of the 96 deaths and the subsequent smearing of the fans, he continues to refuse to say sorry despite the overwhelming findings of the Independent Panel. His comments are appalling and disgraceful as he once again tries to shift the blame on to innocent people, a despicable tactic which was deployed at the time of the disaster and which successfully tormented the families of the deceased, survivors of the tragedy and people of Liverpool for 23 years.

His comments in the light of all the available evidence have brought the honours system into disrepute and his knighthood and QPM should be removed as a matter of urgency.

Shows that the knighthood system is a load of bullshit. Given to corrupt policemen, corrupt bankers and more wankers.

If I was ever offered one (however unlikely) I would go and tell them where to shove it and make sure everyone knows why I would reject such a piece of sh*t.

Maybe people thought the first petition was for both of them, although that would mean they hadn't read it, I suppose.

Hope more people get onto this, I think the numbers were approximately 4,300 and 1,700 signatures respectively, could do with more.

Thank You all so far, the thing is not many people know of the petition and with the help of others we are trying to spread the word I just hope word gets out.

It should come up in their unread posts frizz so I'd like to think the majority on here will do the right thing and fact as they should.

The sad thing is if they go to prison our nanny state will protect them.

Come on, we can get more to sign it, I think its the last day today. You have to sign both e-petitions separately, and it takes literally 2 minutes to do.

I've made some edits to the opening post to make it more accessible to people who want to sign the petitions or didn't know much about it. I've left the Dale St News link in though as that's where the story originated from.

The 19th October isn't very far away at all, so this needs a huge push!!
